Has anyone done any?

Ideally one we can do with pre-teens. We only have tablets though, no laptops but can possibly beam it onto the tv.

TIA

cluehq.co.uk/

It was pretty good

No idea re technology I’m afraid 😀

Think we just used laptops

We've done loads!

Deadlocked Escape Rooms are our favourite (they have 3 on their website, all amazing! The Cyphstress is my all time favourite out of the ones we've played).

ClueHQ are really good too, there are 4 of them and they're good as you can all work on different puzzles at the same time.

The Panic Room have quite a few but they are more expensive and from the ones we tried they are less interactive but they do have some specifically aimed at younger children/teens so you might find something you like there.

Escape Room Durham had a really good free one on their website which uses Google maps etc. It was worth a play as well!

Codebreakers NZ also have two really good ones but would maybe depend on the ages of the people playing as they are more gruesome in content.

I think all of them will tell you whether you need a laptop or not. We always had at least one laptop but I know the others played on phones/iPads and I think most of the games worked for them. Smile

The BRUCE project ones are also fun to play, although quite easy in comparison to some of the others. They are good as everyone can control the screen themselves so you aren't relying on one person.

We tried an online one and it wasn't particularly good for collaboration - thepanicroom - Sherlock one. There was often only one puzzle to work on at a time, and getting between the tabs was annoying.
We've done several of the "Exit game" escape-room-in-a-box sets, which have been good - we are only a family of 3, and I think 4 is probably the most you'd want working on them, but it's possible for different people to be looking at different things.

Brilliant! Loads of suggestions. Thanks. I’ll have a look at them all.

We did plymouth point and mermaid tongue if you want a slightly older version. Was good

Thanks for asking this OP as I was struggling for Xmas party staff ideas!

Ooo jumping on here

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 24/11/2020 21:43

We enjoyed the Panic Room ones but if you are all going to be together, how about the “Unlock!” Board games.

There’s lots of them and there are 3 games in each box.

Also, unlike some others, you don’t destroy any part of it in playing so they can be passed on or even ebayed once you’ve played them.

blackgerbil · 24/11/2020 21:52

Another vote for unlock games. You could also try the freeform games website for fun murder mystery parties. Some of them are adult only, but some have versions appropriate for younger players.

Murdered for Money is a brilliant company: murderedformoney.co.uk

I know this isn't really what you asked for as it's not online - but we did one of these:
www.treasuretrails.co.uk/
in our local town.
Similar sort of clues / puzzles to an escape room type thing but outside.
