To not put any Xmas decs up this year?

In previous years we (me and OH - no kids) would put up a tree, a mantelpiece wreath, a door wreath, bits and pieces and generally make the house feel Christmassy and festive. This year I just can't be bothered. Putting everything up only to take it all down again (and taking it down always takes longer and it's a PITN). So I'm planning to tell my OH that he's welcome to put the lot up if he doesn't mind taking everything down without me.

I like the holidays: time to chill, seeing friends and family, etc. So I'm not anti-Christmas. I've just had enough of the decorations circus that ends up taking half a day beforehand and then again when they come down. Anyone else?

My tree is up. Just me in the house but after this year a bit of sparkle, while I spend another day with the laptop, is just the tonic

Everyone should do what they want. I can see why so many people wouldn't feel remotely like celebrating.

My year, even without Covid would have gone down as one of my worst years to date. Family problems, health and work worries have turned everything upside down. The lights and coziness of Christmas are very appealing to me as a tonic for all the crap. As soon as it's 1st December the lights are going up in my window! I'll hold off with the tree until mid December but bits and pieces will be going up.

It's going to be a strange Christmas, that's for sure.

I don't celebrate Christmas but we do have lots of fairy lights around the house especially in winter so it always looks cosy. I do like the darker nights with candles and mood lighting. I love decorating and interior design so I'm usually changing things and adding lights here and there. Maybe just get a load of pretty fairy lights just to add a bit of sparkle xx

Do whatever you please!

Especially as you don’t have children so none to disappoint.

As soon as my children leave home I won’t be bothering with decorations! However, I will start again if I’m lucky enough to have grandchildren one day and they’ll be visiting.

I've gone the opposite route I've gone all out on lots of new decorations this year (a gift from my parents).

We are missing out on Santa's grotto, Christmas markets, Christmas concerts, town light switch on, zoo lantern walk and other things that make us feel Christmassy.

I've brought Christmas home.
