... infront of dc aged 6 (today), nearly 8 and 9?

He works at a unit for excluded teenagers and was talking about his day. Our children have picked up bad language in the past and although they "choose" to use what they hear, I'm keen for them not to be introduced to words like paedophile in this context and attached to the words "get off me".

Can you imagine it repeated in a key stage 1 playground!

Am I being unreasonable?

no your not.

whilst i work within a similar field and sometimes you just cannot wait to offload the day's troubles but he should try and refrain from doing so in front of teh children.

whilst i am sure your children are perfectly well behaved if they hear the way some children behave and the things they say they may well get the impression it is good or big to behave in a similar way.

Don't know Rose. They are probably going to be exposed to the language in some context or other during their childhood - you cannot stop other children hearing this kind of language at home.

Children pick up so much from their parents. I imagine they know that he was telling a story and not being flippant.

Like I said - I don't know.
