Can I really do better for this price ?

£375 including bills and council tax for a room about 1.5 miles from the city centre.
1 room, 5/6 people to one kitchen, one oven, mircowave etc. Two fridges.

2 bathrooms.
No communal TV etc. No garden.

Old-fashioned house, not in great condition, very outdated.

The problem is there is a room right next to mine with thin walls, we tested it when it was empty and you can hear every conversation and TV peogram.

A couple live there and sometimes can hear them being intimate at 2 in the morning, or on the phone.

The appeal is that I am not tied into a contract there.
I've been here for 4 months, i'm 30 and feel embarrassed to live here to be honest.

I'm living and paying my own way so I shouldn't be, but until I start earning more, I can't afford much else.
The good thing is that people keep themselves to themselves, it's not one of those houseshares where you're expected to be social and eat together etc.

For this price, would I really find anything better? Really trying to find another job so I can rent at least a better houseshare.

6 people to one kitchen is a pain, especially with Covid about as you don't want to get close.

Houseshares are so hit and miss, even if you have nice flatmates they can leave and god knows who can replace them.
Always finding hairs in the sink or shower which is gross.
