To wonder what the point of this is

Relative of mine is in a general hospital in an Acute medical ward. He’s getting treatment after something he did to harm himself. He got distressed and Pulled out his cannula. The mental health team have said that until he agrees to have his cannula back in he’s on one to one. How come he will only be giving one to one until he has the cannula back? Is there a logic to this?

Surely if he needs one to one care this should be continued when he has the cannula back in.

Presumably they need to ration resources.

I fully understand that but what’s the point of placing him on one to one at all?

Have you namechanged? Are you the poster with relative in hospital and had few threads on it?

If yes, even if no, this is not healthy. For you or for them. If you feel they are not getting an adequate care, please do report that, but no one here (you don't either tbh) knows the full picture so cannot tell you if the care is ok or not. It will just stress you more.

They can't force him to have a cannula in though - I assume he doesn't want one in?

User42622 · 21/11/2020 18:21

Yes I did name changed as didn’t want my previous thread to be linked. No they can’t force him but he’s only on one to one until he Has the cannula in.
