To think there must be something that will work on my headache

I get these headaches every cycle. Not quite migraine level but persistent, throbbing and a bit more than a normal headache. Assume it’s hormonal as it comes a day or so before my period.
The problem is nothing shifts it, and it lasts up to 5 days each time. I’ve tried (not simultaneously) paracetemol, ibruprofen, codeine, migralieve, syndol, I’ve tried using essential oil headache balms, neck rub, white tiger balm, red tiger balm (not doing that one again), eye masks, drinking lots of water, cutting caffeine, going to bed early, you name it ive tried it.
It’s a pain - literally. Why won’t it go away?! My cycles are down to about 21 days now (perimenopause) so it feel like there’s not many days when I’m not either bleeding or have a banging head.
There must be something surely? Any suggestions not listed above that people swear by?

And thank you to the pp who linked to the national migraine association website. The first few paragraphs on there are basically what I wrote on my op! I feel more inclined to speak to the gp now, knowing that menstrual migraine is an actual thing.

I've also found this hugely helpful and interesting. Keen to know more about HRT and magnesium supplements Smile

I always had hormonal migraines and after the children were born I seemed to get a lot more "headaches" ...after about ten years I realised the headaches were flagging up and turning into migraines ...full on head in a bucket, weeping and wishing for an early death ones

What worked for me was going in very hard with 48-72 hours of alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen for the headache and it stopped it building up to a humdinger.

I did try beta blockers, which did work, but caused me so much breathlessness I'd have to stop to catch my breath halfway up a flight of stairs!

Pretty much menopausal now, and occasionally wake up with one, but the acupuncture thumb clip and a hefty dose of caffeine and paracetamol will fend them off...they are not nearly as bad as they used to be.

Sumatriptan - can get two from boots but you need a care card.

They changed my life. Was crippled with pain each month until I found these

My migraines were menstrual cycle related - thankfully they disappeared with my menopause. What I found worked was co-codamol and a decongestant nasal spary or Boots own brand decongestant. I honestly can't remember how I eventually arrived at this solution but it worked. I did try other oral decongestants, but it was the Boots one that worked when combined with the co-codamol (again a generic one, not branded like Solpadene).

Finding this post so interesting as I am also suffering head aches constantly at the moment. Hope everyone finds what works for them

I wear a mouth guard at night because I clench my teeth when I’m asleep (bruxism) which causes headaches.
I started waking up with horrible headaches which I couldn’t shift despite wearing my mouth guard. It turns out the new pillows we had bought when we moved house were too big. I found this out when I went away for 2 weeks and the accommodation only supplied one pillow. My headaches cleared up.
