AIBU to think that even when you live somewhere that is basically COVID free, this is a bold way to celebrate turning the towns Christmas lights on last night, given there could be people unknowingly carrying the virus?

If it's covid free and there's no chance of someone else bringing the virus in (i.e. an island or a country with closed borders) then why not?

If it's NOT covid-free then it's very unwise.

COVID free “ish” a few cases in isolation and a small outbreak last week that was contained (they think, who knows since loads of people never show symptoms)

I am glad I didn’t go, and can’t. Several hundred uni students have returned from Uk over the last few weeks and lots are isolating at hone with family members who will be in that crush. I would say it’s only a matter of time now.

Isle of Man. Seems stupid to me having done so much hard work to keep everyone safe

That's just madness. You can almost see the COVID being passed around!

No, I think they are behaving like normal people. They have a very very low incidence of the virus. They’re fine.

Let’s see in a couple of weeks. It’s an interesting social experiment for the rest of the world.

Several hundred students back on planes and ferries from UK unis (mainly Liverpool and Manchester) back to live with their families and everyone is completely confident no one in that crown was carrying the virus. Despite no testing on arrival or through the 14 day self isolation.

I remain to be convinced. Just strikes me as pretty stupid that’s all.

I think there’s going to come a point (hopefully soon) where we have to start getting back to normal. I don’t want my child growing up afraid to stand in a group in case she catches an illness that has a minuscule chance of doing her any serious harm. I recognise the threat to the elderly and unwell has to come first in places where transmission is high, but seeing people behaving normally where transmission is low doesn’t terrify me.

Agreed . Hopefully by next spring for most people
