They are shutting the road to the school

My DC school has just announced that the road to the school will be shut at drop off and pick up times to make it safer for social distancing.

This is a huge problem for me as I have 3 to drop off at different schools, they are asking us to park far away and walk.

I think it's down to the residents complaining about the parking but to close it completely seems so ott for the working parents and the parents who have to drive.

What do you think?

I think people have missed that the OP has three children all at different schools. Of course walking one to school for 20 minutes is fine.

Near to where I live a girl died due to asthma, and the pollution on her walk to school was stated as a contributing factor in her death. Our Council is pleading with people not to use open fires or log burners any more due to effect it has on air pollution and those with lung conditions. This is what those of us who live in cities have to face daily, and why school streets are being brought in.
I don’t think those who live rurally and are saying ‘we couldn’t get to school without a car’ really understand what the roads are like in cities at the moment. Covid has only made it worse as people don’t want to use public transport. I am sorry if school streets makes life more difficult for some people, but I suffer from asthma as do two of my children, and pollution makes our lives more difficult too.

People are very unwilling to change their habits, or even look at other possibilities

@CheckMate2

OP, what do others at the school do who work?
