HAVEN CHARGING FOR A SWIM

DUFFDADDY1 · 16/11/2020 17:31

AIBU to still be really pissed off that we had to pay an extra £120 for myself and my DS to swim in a Haven holiday park when usually it’s included in the booking .
I have been back 2 weeks ?

Did you book a haven hideaway?

Igmum · 16/11/2020 17:34

Yup I was cheesed off too. I wouldn't have minded the struggle to book the pool (almost no spaces) if they hadn't charged us so much extra for it. Definitely annoy

Rhinofeet · 16/11/2020 17:36

£120? Shock yeah that's a lot for something that this time last year would be free.

Went to parkdean in October and they were charging £1.50pp for a swim. Guess it makes sense to add a nominal fee if they've had to employ more people to staff it/clean it.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/11/2020 17:36

All the 2020 holidays are cheaper to not include facilities such as swimming that are normally included into the package.

We didn't bother with the entertainment upgrade in the summer as nothing other than swimming appealled plus the weather was variable which didn't work well with pre-booking.

Normally we'd just pay the full price for the whole thing and not feel like it's a very expensive swim. But it was sensible for Haven to put in a basic package when it was unclear what would be avaliable through 2020 and allow people to upgrade the difference according to what was permitted.

TheQueef · 16/11/2020 17:37

Cheaper at the local leisure centre surely?

Chocolatekitty · 16/11/2020 17:39

Haven's utterly rubbish for things like this- I used to work at one of the sites when I was a student, and it was a constant 'added extras' environment- they lured people in with low prices, but the prices included nothing but the absolute bare bones, and everything else was hugely overinflated in price.

Mylittlesandwich · 16/11/2020 17:40

This is a one off for this year. You book a haven hideaway break with no entertainment included. If when you're there they can accommodate you you can pay the £120 upgrade but it isn't just for swimming.

x2boys · 16/11/2020 17:42

Was it a Haven Hideaway ? Because I'm pretty sure they did stipulate that no facilities would be included if it was ?

DUFFDADDY1 · 16/11/2020 18:38

I went to Hoseasons a few months ago and there was no charge.
I am lucky that I can afford this . Not everyone can .
It’s like you are being charged twice .
It was a caravan not a hideaway

PiperPiper20 · 16/11/2020 19:03

Yeah this year loads of haven/butlins type holidays have been massively discounted but have not included activities.

nosswith · 16/11/2020 19:04

Have Ryanair bought them?

YANBU to be upset.

TheDowagerDuchess · 16/11/2020 19:18

Well it is a lot more! But without knowing how much the discount was for it being a “hideaway” it’s hard to know.

x2boys · 16/11/2020 19:22

The Hideaway holidays were in the caravans ,but they were advertised as hideaways because it was just the accomodation ,did you book with knowing this or did you just book a normal holiday paying typical prices ?

Littleposh · 16/11/2020 19:59

Always check the small print!!

Meatshake · 16/11/2020 21:11

I've been to Butlins twice this year, one pre covid one just before lockdown #2, the only thing I can think of that wasn't available that would normally be included was the kids soft play.

zigzagbetty · 16/11/2020 21:15

The hideaway prices were cheaper at first but got progressively more expensive as time went on and more people wanted to book holidays. When we looked for September they were actually more expensive for the hideaway than for the same week next year, so to have to pay that much extra is disgusting.

Boom45 · 16/11/2020 21:18

Its a covid thing. They are charging less for "hideaway" holidays which are the caravans but without access to the pools etc because of social distancing. Once we're back to normal you won't be charged for it

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 16/11/2020 21:21

We went in Sept, they wanted to charge us £35 each to go in the pool with no guarantee that we'd even be able to book a slot. It's a no from us, thanks. We've booked for next year and it's all included then!

Christmasfairy2020 · 16/11/2020 21:38

Err ye as u didnt book with haven you booked with a private owner. I was gifted a privilege card by the caravan owner.
Book with haven - get everything included
Book with private van - pay extra

Ginger1982 · 16/11/2020 21:45

Did you book through Haven? We booked a Haven hideaway caravan without swimming then just before we were due to arrive we were told we could upgrade for £20 to full facility use.

B00zyCake · 17/11/2020 00:01

Stayed in a hotel in Portugal one December
Didn't see anyone in the outdoor pool
Hotel wanted 6 euros per person, per day to use the indoor pool
Not many people in the hotel
Didn't use the indoor pool on principal, was not prepared to pay extra

OlympicProcrastinator · 17/11/2020 02:39

I booked the package that included all entertainment, paid the higher price and. couldn’t go swimming as there were no spaces!

GrubbsGrady · 17/11/2020 02:45

Sorry are you asking us if you've been back 2 week's ? Are you unsure Hmm

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 17/11/2020 02:56

Yes YABU if booking was made this year. All holidays are advertised as a ‘hideaway’ meaning no access to leisure facilities or entertainment. These holidays were cheaper to book. Then haven have offered to ‘upgrade’ presumably the difference between a hideaway price and a ‘normal’ price although £120 does seem a lot. When we went in September the upgrade was £40 for two adults (baby was free)

If booked pre covid and therefore higher prices and then being charged £120 the YANBU
