Muddy walks and puddles ?

Hi is there a secret to walking outdoors with a toddler.

I see others with toddlers quite close to them just puttering along clean, walking PAST puddles not through them

Within 20 minutes my toddler (20 months ) is carrying 4 sticks in one hand , hand full of mud in the other. Sitting in each puddle or running through and splashing his hand in the water for a while .

All ok wearing a full waterproof puddle suit but my whole outfit including coat need chucking in the wash and toddlers too.

How do others stay so clean Hmm

Accept it and buy cheap waterprool trousers, jacket and gumboots for yourself, so that you can jump in the puddles with your toddler.

It's good for them!

At nursery we have a group of children who are water and mud magnets and a group who always stay clean, even when they have access to exactly the same environment so I think it's just personality and the way they explore differently.

I arrived back at the car after our walk today, carrying two leaves, a very muddy stick and several stones, that my toddler deemed not important enough to hold on to himself, but far too important for me to put down Hmm

I don't go quite as far as embracing the puddles myself. But I do let him have a good splash. Thankfully he's never tried to sit down in one!! It's only mud and water. I just strip the dirty stuff off him before we drive home so he doesn't trash the car 🤷‍♀️
