DD's school have just sent me through lots of details about her KS1 sats.
DD is higher ability and could do well, however I know that the school have not covered a large amount of content due to covid.
I have always understood that the KS1 sats are for the school not for the child. It is about their results not hers.
I could easily tutor DD in the areas that are missing so that she does well. However I wonder is this fair? Will it help her to be ahead of her peers? Will it actually help the school to analyse what they need to do next (and fix any weaknesses in their teaching or curriculum)?
Of course I want DD to do the best she can but I don't, as an example, want to spend time covering data handing, when the rest of the class hasn't. So she is likely to cover it again next year.
