To hang a tree from my curtain pole?

So, living is long and thin. Sofas in the middle facing forward. Behind is toys and entrance to kitchen

Normally tree goes in front window by telly.

DS be we bothered with it really. He'd take the odd bit off the bottom but wasn't really destructive. He's 5 now and I should be able to trust him not to do anything silly.

HOWEVER we have dastardly twins who will be nearly 1, pulling up and cruising, chewing ANYTHING that's inappropriate, definitely the sort to pull a tree over and bite the angel. Did o mention my lovely expensive baubles??

So the plan is to put it the other end, where we can't sit and see it but we will when we aren't sat down, which is most of the day until the kids are in bed tbh. We use a toy box to split the room so the dastardly twins can't get into the kitchen / DSs toys.

But that's a narrow space and Xmas morning not viable to sit around / or presents under.

So I'm thinking of handing baubles from the curtain pole (that had no curtains) in a teasingly shape to look like a tree, plus a few within the triangle to look like baubles.

Or just loads of different height ones along in a row.

Or any other ideas?

I did think maybe just lights on the window bit with the blinds we wouldn't see much and I want Xmas morning with a tree.

Can't even suggest moving it down on the actual nothing because frankly I'm dreading keeping the twins behaving as it is, without fresh fun in front of them!!

It'll give us a bit more room at lunch time too.

Did I mention my house really isn't very big?

Tldr: shall I make a tree out of battery and hand from my curtain pole because my tree isn't safe there?

Something like this as a sacrificial offering to detract them from the nicer decorations.

Maybe just dress the twins as trees, then you can have one for each end of the room Grin

Forever you're a star. I had one in my Amazon basket but yours is cheaper. Ta 🤣

Who it's a definite consideration

I want this one from Homebase, due to I'm sick of moving furniture around to fit the tree in rather than having bonkers twins.
Maybe you could staple it flat on the ceiling Grin

We didn't bother the first year with our twins but given you've got an older one...

Put a small tree in his room? And then just decorations and lights around the house?

SleepingStandingUp · 16/11/2020 18:16

But I WANT ONE!!!!!!!

🤣🤣🤣

I really hope you find something you like, when my twin boys were 17 months old they jumped off the arm of the sofa into the Christmas tree, they thought it was hilarious, the tree was taken down on Boxing Day.
Maybe a small one on a sideboard would work?

5zeds · 16/11/2020 18:25

We put ours on top of a trunk. Tie the top to something. If you measure from the toe to finger tip it’s possible to make sure they can’t reach.

MutteringDarkly · 16/11/2020 18:36

Decorate a tree OUTSIDE the window and put the presents on the windowsill for a few brief seconds before the mayhem when it's Christmas morning?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/11/2020 18:51

I used to put a tree on the table. Be careful about the delivery date of that amazon link, its after Christmas!

StCharlotte · 16/11/2020 18:54

I too have one year old "twins" (kittens) and as they've proved themselves to be totally untrustworthy, we are foregoing a tree this year and will be hanging a ladder tree in our window with unbreakable decorations (felt etc). The buggers will probably climb it.
