People spitting

I live in a big city and every day I will see at least one person (it’s nearly always men but occasionally women too) spit a large globule of saliva onto the pavement. It’s not pleasant at the best of times, but even more grim when we’re in a the midst of a pandemic. AIBU to be disgusted that people do this?

U.K. was cleared of T.B., by making spitting socially and legally unthinkable.
It has been re-introduced, by footballers and by people welcomed and given citizenship with all it's benefits, including health care, but not required to learn the English language let alone the social and health rules.
I would make it mandatory that spitting must result, if detected, in arrest, heavy fine or imprisonment.
