Honestly, if you're going to come up with a mean nickname for someone at least make it a good one. It sounds like something my young DS would come up with!

“I've always thought that 'nuts' can be applied to men or women”

Yes somehow it’s not. At least no in the same way. Men might be described as nuts if they have a genuine legitimate breakdown which sees them striding round the village in nothing more than wellies singing show tunes at the top of their voice.

Women? Raise your voice; disagree with your boss; complain that, no you weren’t “asking for it”; grow your hair long post 40; enjoy your own company; assert boundaries; have an opinion; know stuff; don’t be sexually available .... any of that and you’re labelled nuts.

I’ve called men nuts for considerably less than that, so has every woman I know.

We have different experiences then 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a man called nuts. Bastard, player, psycho, arsehole, oddball all used regularly for egregious behaviour.

But in my world “nuts” is reserved as a way of casually dismissing a woman for the most insignificant of misdemeanours.

Are men referred to being a prince if they are being demanding be it unreasonable or not

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 15/11/2020 19:26

Um - ‘little lord’ or marquis maybe?

user12345796 · 15/11/2020 19:28

I immediately thought it was an insult about her teeth
I have known a lot of public school boys.

HeddaGarbled · 15/11/2020 19:29

It sounds tame for men who, I imagine, are foul-mouthed. I don’t believe it.

allthewaterinthetap · 15/11/2020 19:32

LOL at Cummings and Cain making remarks about anyone's appearance!

TheKeatingFive · 15/11/2020 19:35

The sound like fucking children

MrsSpringfield · 15/11/2020 19:35

I think it's probably what my boyfriends/ DH's friends have always called me. Or similar. Probably worse. Unfortunately GrinHalo

ANoTail · 15/11/2020 19:39

Possibly, on Cummings' home planet, it's a compliment of the highest esteem?

JovialNickname · 15/11/2020 19:43

It's a juvenile stupid nickname that probably will stick just because of how rubbish it is. Not relevant I know but Carrie is really sweet looking and pretty, how ridiculous that her appearance is being mocked by two men that both look like a bag of spanners.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 15/11/2020 19:51

Patronising and misogynistic to say the least, from two scruffy Tory oiks. Thank goodness they’ve been booted out.

HopeClearwater · 15/11/2020 19:54

'Left to his own devices, Boris will wander off from decisions and read Pliny or Pericles or eat or shag' Andrew Rawnsley in the Guardian

This is so funny Grin

stovetopespresso · 15/11/2020 19:55

I thought it was done on emojis rather than words. Which changes nothing obv re that bunch of visionless weirdos. Glad they're gone.

Viviennemary · 15/11/2020 20:00

I think it's quite amusing. But she got rid of the ghastly Cummings. I'm not a fan of either of them.

theThreeofWeevils · 15/11/2020 20:01

@ViciousJackdaw

She's had sex with Boris Johnson, I'm really not surprised her sanity is in question.
Well, quite. If you lie down with dogs... (nothing against canines: intelligent - with some notable exceptions, naming no names - and loyal on the whole).

Why Symonds gets sympathy or support, which I suspect she neither needs nor gives a flying fuck about, from MN baffles me.

MushMonster · 15/11/2020 20:03

It is a silly nickname in the grown up world. More appropriate for 5 year olds.
Now, surely they can spend the rest of their valuable time doing something of use, like proper running the country?
I really hope that they will start treating the public with some respect, starting by announcing changes themselves, instead of leaking....

SleepingStandingUp · 15/11/2020 20:03

Spoilt crazy bitch is how I'd interpret it fr someone who doesn't like me so yeah, I think I'd be pretty offended

SwedishEdith · 15/11/2020 20:06

Quite.

MorganKitten · 15/11/2020 20:11

Carrie and DC go waaaaay back and there’s a lot more to it

Susanwouldntlikeit · 15/11/2020 20:14

It's infuriating to think that those in charge are busy name calling and indulging in playground politics during the biggest crisis to face the country for a generation
Completely agree with this! Prep school name/calling when the country is on its knees. Just shameful.

Barbie222 · 15/11/2020 20:17

I think there will be a few more layers to the nickname that the likes of us aren't aware of. I think there will be something in the Nut Nut vs Nut Nuts too. Why mention it otherwise. It will likely be a sexual thing if it has pissed Boris off this much.

DrManhattan · 15/11/2020 20:19

Am genuinely worried that these total idiots are handling brexit. Its gonna be an absolute shower. Enjoy Christmas as fook knows what it's gonna be like next year

CherryRipe1 · 15/11/2020 20:22

I remember 'nut nut' used many decades ago for both male and females considered
crazy and to be avoided.
