To think cleaning the house takes so much discipline?

Unless you have a cleaner that is!

DC went to bed at 7. After that I wiped down kitchen surfaces, unloaded dishwasher, washed up pans from dinner, washed up pet’s food bowls, cleaned out cafetière, cleaned highchair, wiped up food from floor underneath highchair, cleaned dining table, emptied kitchen bins, put away toys and playmat, tidied a load of other random stuff away, sorted out laundry and did a quick Hoover.

The whole lot took me an hour and I’m finally collapsed on the sofa with a glass of wine!

The thing is, I was so tempted just to say sod it and leave it all until tomorrow - it’s so hard to keep the house clean and tidy day in, day out. I know if I let it go it will be a whole load more work, but I’m shattered!

Does everyone else have a similar evening routine?

I have a cleaner, and I still have to do all that every night, I class it as "doing the kitchen" rather than cleaning, meaning just trying to keep on top of the mess the dc make at meal times.
I used to send dp and dc out every Saturday morning to do the actual cleaning, but then had an epiphany that a cleaner is much more efficient than me and can achieve in 2 hours what takes me 4, so I hired one.
It is fucking relentless and soul destroying trying to keep a clean house ewith young children.

Every fucking day. And it all returns the next day. Bollocks, bloody bollocks. Small 2 bed with a 3 & 1 year old. I was looking at photos of my newly decorated, immaculately tidy living room taken 4 years ago pre children. HA. I had no idea...

Surely it's not all your work though ? There are 7 of us here ( 5 kids ) and we share the work. Nobody sits down after a meal until the place is clean again.

Oh yep. I hate it. Dh does the kitchen clean down each evening but it's the other stuff that gets me. The needing to hoover and mop and tidy constantly.

I just say sod it.

I keep the house hygienic and make sure we have clean clothes etc but other than that I really don’t give a fuck...

DS will be little once and to hell with it am I going to miss out or be frazzled over cleaning.

When I go back to work I’ll get a cleaner - having a baby has taught me that life is for living.

I think everything I did was essential stuff though. Like emptying the dishwasher and cleaning pans. And it still took me an hour!
