Uneven leg creases

My 6 month old dd has an extra 'roll'/creases on her left leg. We are waiting for an appointment with the gp about it but I'm just worried sick! Has anyone ever had this and it turns out to be normal?
Her 6 week check her hips were fine and no concerns. She is sitting independently and is very active rolling all over and she constantly has her feet in her mouth when she's getting changed. I have tired to check the length of her legs and to me they look the same size. The only other thing I've noticed is when shes standing with my support she stands with her left foot almost flat and the left more on her toes but I could just be looking for problems!
I do think we will be told that she has hip dysplasia but clutching at straws that this could be normal.
Has anyone had anything like this and it be okay or experience similar.

My daughter was born with 1 dislocated hip and hip dysplasia in both hips. Was picked up at 2 days old. At 8 months an xray is much better than a scan. We were scanned weekly until she was 6 months old and then moved to xrays at 8 months old. This is because the bones have started to calcify at this age and so much easier to pick up on xrays.

Please do not worry yourself sick. A diagnosis of DDH is really not the end of the world. I know its easier said than done and I burst into tears at our diagnosis (i blame just giving birth hormones) and yes some things are harder than other babies but it's not a life sentence.

Your baby if diagnosed will probably have whats known as either an open or closed reduction operation and a spica cast applied for about 18 weeks. During that time you will have 2 or 3 cast changes to accommodate the growing body of your baby.

Hippy babies are so resilient, they really are. We have stuck rigidly to the guidelines still (my daughter is nearly 4 now) and she has never been on a trampoline of space hopper. Never used a jumperoo, bumbo or a baby walker etc...... I still refuse to put her in tights or restrictive clothing like denim as I like her to have complete free movement of her hips.

Happy to help in any way. But don't get too worried about it all. I promise even if it is diagnosed it is not the end of the world.

Oh alright! We have only been referred for an ultrasound scan which in itself won’t happen soon I am sure. So just got to wait I guess.let us know what happens with your little one. Fingers crossed all goes well xx

I believe your child has likely got hemi (hemihypertrophy) this is a condition where we uneven grow on one side of the body. It could be just a hand or ear or leg, anything. It will be over 5% larger than the other side to be classed as hemi. These children also have a higher risk of producing Wilma tumors on their kidneys to need regular screening for them. I hope this information help’s. My daughter of 22 has hemi of the leg. She’s fine x
