To feel ever so slightly bereft now Nicola & Katya are out of Strictly?

Honestly, before this year I pretty much turned my nose up at the whole thing and couldn't have cared less. But an increasingly drab lockdown has turned me into a fan of huge grins and sequins and joy and cheese. And, actually, their freestyle dance was utterly life enhancing.

But Sky says Katya has tested positive, so they both have to withdraw. Cannot express how sad I am. (Guess they must be, too ...)

They were. On it takes two yesterday/day before will Zoe ball need to isolate ? It's a shame I liked them.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that they all acknowledged it was a huge risk and might all end in disaster.

Agree about Caroline Quentin and Bill Bailey, though I had been particularly looking forward to Clara Amfo. Perhaps, apart from aforementioned drabness of life, I'm enjoying it more this year because I recognise an unusually large number of contestants.

No great loss tbh. She has no rhythm and can’t dance.

But that wouldn’t be fair on the other contestants, as they will have skipped rounds and better dancers might go out. It is a shame though, hope no more get it

@purpleme12 but then everyone else would have 2 extra weeks learning dances that Nicola wouldn't have and other couples would be sent home whilst Nicola remains safe which isn't fair.

I'm sure they've done it before where a couple have been off for a bit because of injury though and come back on a previous series. But anyway

Well whatever the reasons the bubbles have not worked obviously I don't know if it's a staff member, one of the invisible people who cook clean and look after the stars in their bubbles but if the bbc can't get it right with all their resources what chance do we have.
I can see from the news that AJ Pritchard who is supposed to be in a similar bubble for I'm a celebrity has also tested positive.

Sad at the circumstances. A reminder that even with a vaccine on the way we must not let our guard down.

They used to allow one weeks grace for illness. I would have expected them to have thought through ether they would need to adjust this re. COVID. There's always the danger that they could end up without any contestants or even presenters!

They did think it through and it was made clear from the very start that a positive test on either partner would result in the couple leaving the show.

I like Nicola a lot but she had a bad week and looked to be on her way out soon. The same-sex thing was a bit of a damp squid anyway, didn't add anything.

Hopefully the rest of the cast will be ok.

Can Jason and Luba come back then? I'm sad that they went, they always cheered me up, both their dancing and on ITT.

Can you imagine if Craig tested positive? I think there’s be high drama even if he was asymptomatic. He doesn’t strike me as an easy patient.🤣

I'd imagine Jason and Luba's bubble has now been broken so unlikely any couple pairing can resume/return.

God, I hope everyone else stays safe, this show is helping me through lockdown!

I found Nicola endlessly shouting "I'm a dancer baby" and promising to put in an impossible 150% grating so I won't miss them. I was so looking forward to the same sex dances but they didn't seem to be anything special. Johannes and Graziano last series were breath taking so I had high hopes too.

I'll miss them. I like Katya's choreography and Nicola had potential, a great manner – straightforward, genuine), a beautiful accent and a terrific smile.

I had high hopes of Nicola, thinking she'd be light on her feet, but she was very heavy footed I thought, and I did wonder how she would cope with her first ballroom this Saturday where any lack of elegance or technique would be exposed.
Loving Bill Bailley and his commitment and skill, but there's something about Caroline Quentin that I can't quite put my finger on yet to fully describe. I think I might mean she's a bit inauthentic somehow, acting?

Apparently Bill Bailey danced ballroom in his youth but I was still surprised by his dancing ability.

How do these bubbles work, they must be in contact with other people for Katya to get it?

I reckon Nicola will be invited back next year.

I've seen a Bill Bailey live show. I remember it struck me at the time how incredibly light on his feet he was.

I think they had a good range of "celebs" this year. Even if I've not heard of the youngsters
