Moving to Norfolk

Hi,
We were planning to relocate late next year, but have been given notice on our private rent for end of February, so we've been pushed into doing it a bit sooner than we expected...
(great timing as baby No. 2 due in January!)

Feeling a little apprehensive about moving an hour and half Away from family so soon after giving birth, but if we don't take the leap now, it'll never happen!

We are looking to relocate King's lynn way, but not been able to go and have a proper look at areas due to covid and lockdowns.
We were thinking Dereham, Fakenham, Swaffham.
I need to be withing 20-30 mins of the hospital for work.

Can anyone recommend any nice areas with decent amenities / schools?
Any tips of relocating?
Posting for traffic! Thank you! :)

I live in Fakenham. I think it really depends what you prefer to do day to day. Fakenham has little cafes/ costa and the like but no ‘posh’ pubs- those are nearer the coast. It does have a market every Thursday and you can get things like fresh fish/seafood. You do have excellent access to the North Norfolk coast. We go most weekends to Wells (about 15 min drive) or Holkham or a bit further you get to Brancaster. But we love doing that all year round, regardless of weather. If you like plenty of bracing windy coastal/beach walks then I’d say it’s worth it for you. If that doesn’t appeal so much then more Norwich way would be better. Personally we love it round here, there are some gorgeous little villages. Places like Gunthorpe / Bale / Swanton Novers-very pretty but not cheap!

I would love to move to the outskirsts of Norwich, I am keen to read your advice on where is a lovely place to settle, I am sure there are lots!
Which little towns / villages would give 10-15 mins to get to the city?
What about the broads? are they prone to flooding ? best to avoid???
If so are there any higher levels on the broads?
I do love the countryide and the city so was thinking best of both worlds!

Hi everyone,

I am looking to move to Norfolk and looking at Hethersett, Cringleford and Wymondham (preferred) for commute to Central London once or twice a week.

We are a mixed race couple, have a child so wanted to know:
-How life would be for us as a diverse couple and child
-The diversity and inclusively in local outstanding schools and the community
-Outstanding non religious schools that you could recommend
-Good rental areas around here and areas/schools to stay away from

Open to other suggestions on location with proximity to a station and an outstanding primary’s school.

Hi everyone, I name changed , but this thread just pinged in my emails.
We did it and are settled in Fakenham.. We love it so far.
Nice and close to the beaches. Lovely little community.
Hopefully when covid is better, we will start with normal life. And routine. Little on in nursery etc.
Definately recommend.
