To think this is a scam?

Just had an email allegedly from DPD who say they tried to deliver an Amazon parcel - they claim I wasn't in (I was) and that they need £2.20 to re-arrange delivery

Thing is, the linked email it appears to have come from is [email protected] - wouldn't it give a direct DPD address? - and the site's extremely glitchy. It won't allow me to pay by Paypal either and wants bank details instead

Has anyone else had this? I'm assuming it's yet another scam, but as I'm ordering stuff all the time, including from Amazon, i'm just not sure

100% scam

Silverstripe · 10/11/2020 11:13

Total scam. Call DPD directly (using details from google, not from within the email they sent) and check with them if you think you have ordered something that is delayed. But don’t pay anything on the basis of that email.

PatriciaHolm · 10/11/2020 11:13

Of course it is! Delete. That's clearly not a DPD email.

Spidey66 · 10/11/2020 11:14

Scam with a capital S.

BrumBoo · 10/11/2020 11:15

Of course it's a scam! Don't click any bloody links, even Amazon/DPD wouldn't charge extra for delivery if they missed you.

AwFeebs · 10/11/2020 11:16

Yep scam written all over it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/11/2020 11:17

Very many thanks for the quick replies, everyone; I'm normally extremely suspicious of these things, but honestly did wonder about this one

I just noticed, too, that instead of giving my email as the address it's come to when I open it, it just says "you"

Guess they've calculated that everyone's ordering for Christmas and it's a good time to try ... how sickening Hmm

Spam.

There's another one going around that says your TV licence has expired with a link to pay. If you check out the email address of sender it's a giveaway.

OchonAgusOchonO · 10/11/2020 11:20

DPD don't charge to re-deliver. Also, the email address is a dead giveaway. Slightly more sophisticated scams have an email that at least looks like it could be the real thing.

So not only is it a scam, it's not even a very good oneGrin

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/11/2020 11:21

Don't click any bloody links

Don't worry I haven't; I opened the email but am certainly not going to start handing out bank details!!

And yes I get the TV Licence ones too - all the time Hmm

I got this too.
I went into official dpd website and put the tracking number into the search and it came back confirming that it's a scam!!

according to my emails i've been banking with every bank on the market, and my accounts have been compromised. problem is i've only ever banked with 2 and one of them was a building society that no longer exsists !

DaddysGirlForLife · 10/11/2020 11:41

This is another one to be careful of.

I've had the TV licence one on numerous occasions. And the banking ones.

My friend had one she was worried about regarding a speeding offence. It took ages to convince her it was a scam, even though she's not owned a car for the best part of 10 years.

DickBastardly · 10/11/2020 11:49

Yeah, scam and also, grass is green.

I had that in April-and at the time we got it free because of my DH's age.
Suze1621 · 10/11/2020 18:19

Do not ring DPD! Cost me £20 for two calls, one if which was not answered!

Oh no - another of these blasted scams Hmm

Perhaps surprisingly in view of your experience there was no phone number with this email, but I did go onto DPD's proper website and quelle surprise ... the "tracking number"' is fake

Thanks again to everyone though; I'd never have given them my bank info, but I appreciate the reassurance all the same

Duuuhhhh, bold fail there - sorry!!

My Dh has received a number of these emails from DPD and knew he hadn't ordered anything. I had ordered some masks but that was with my own email so they wouldn't be contacting DH. He saw a DPD van outside the other day and asked the driver about it. He discovered where their depo was and it wasn't the London address as per the scam email. We don't live in England never mind near London. A bit far to go and pick up a parcel.

iklboogeymum · 10/11/2020 18:59

I got the 'HMRC have a warrant out for your arrest' AND the 'HMRC has a tax refund of £££ you need to claim' on the same day.

Plus the TV licence, Microsoft, PayPal and two banks we don't bank with. Pains of DH being self-employed with the phone numbers out there. Such fun.
