To think that some people think wfh is the same as “housewife”

DH is usually an equal partner in all things house and chore related: and this worked well in lockdown.

But since going back to work outside of the house, he seems to think I’m a housewife: leaves dishes out, leaves bins unemptied, I get DS ready for school while he eats a leisurely breakfast. He seems surprised that dinner isn’t ready when he gets home, or that washing isn’t up to date.

These are all small things, but it’s been creeping up, and he’s never been like this before!

A friend says her husband has been similar while she has been wfh

Same thing when I used to work from home.

And don’t get me fucking started on people who wanted me to look after a sick child so they could “go to work” Hmm or neighbours wanting big items to be delivered to me as I was “at home anyway”.

It was the same bloody thing when I worked nightshifts as well.

Don't get to the dishes or the laundry. Tell him to do it when he gets home given you did the morning and the dog.

In fact, when I worked nights (for years) my MIL would often ask when I was going to look for a job. I worked 3 r4, 12 hour night shifts a week. On a busy ward. But it wasn’t real work, as I was at home all day. Work that one out!

@WankPuffins I’ve never known a night worker to actually get a decent amount of sleep

@Mammylamb oh yes, I used to do a 12 hour nightshift and then have the audacity to come home and ‘nap’ Angry

Yes, I find this really enoying. Not from DP- he would know better, but MIL frequently asks me have I had a nice day off when I have been WFH!!!. She never asks DH that. I politely correct her through gritted teeth.

Well, i mentioned to DH last night that I wanted to have a shower and eat breakfast before starting work: so this morning he got DS ready. I think that it really was genuinely him not thinking
