Pre/early Teens - Christmas present inspiration, please!

Inspired by another thread on here about Christmas presents for someone's DS8. I was able to contribute and got some more ideas on there for my youngest and I've already got loads of stuff for him but my DS12 (13 in January).... arghh... ideas please lovely MNers? He loves his comfort so already got teddy duvet covers, Eskimo Sherpa and comfy slippers. His Christmas list this year is ALL gaming but I want to find some other things for him. Any ideas please?? Not clothes as we don't buy them as presents unless they want something unusually expensive and he's quite happy in H&M and M&S at the moment!

There's a Christmas topic...

AlwaysLatte · 09/11/2020 18:41

Oh is there? Sorry the other one was on Aibu. But also relevant for birthdays, too!

Ah, you've a Ds Grin shame cos I came here to say my dd wants straighteners! The rest of my list isn't going to be that helpful either.

AlwaysLatte · 09/11/2020 18:51

Tbh @AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal he might end up with straighteners, I'm that stumped!

My daughter has asked for an Oodie, which is a cross between a hoodie and a blanket. They are mostly out of stock, but I’ve managed to get something similar on amazon. She has also asked for LED strip lighting for the roof of her room.

Itsnotalwaysasyouthink · 09/11/2020 18:53

Skateboard

My 12yo has also asked for LED strip lighting. Is this a "thing" they have all seen somewhere?

How about gaming merch (mugs, posters, phones cases?) My DS and his friends always appreciate vouchers to add to their online wallets.

Is he into gadgets? How about a telescope?

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/11/2020 19:21

Or a microscope?

foxes15 · 09/11/2020 19:51

13 year old ds has asked for Lego, a smart speaker and a nice bottle of aftershave, lynx etc sets off his asthma so he loves his aftershave

AlwaysLatte · 10/11/2020 06:55

He has already got some LED strip lighting, it does definitely seem to be a thing! He has a second hand skateboard but never shown much interest in it. Phone case is a good idea, although the tough armour one that makes the thing bullet proof is still on there, it seems a shame to replace it when it's so good and he hasn't asked!

The oodie looks good but he has a Eskimo Sherpa that's practically the same.
He's put 18 games on his list which I'm not keen on so at the moment I haven't bought anything other thanstockjng fillers 😬
A small pet like a snake he'd love and I'm at home much of the time but we have a dog and I don't know what the dog would do if it escaped.

I hear this. I inherited 2 nephews this year (my bil fiancé’s 2 boys) they’re 9 and 11 and absolutely brutal to buy for. Their mum is no help she doesn’t have a clue what to get them herself!

One likes wrestling and fitness, the other is into his gaming. Probably end up with some fortnite merch!

Mummadeeze · 10/11/2020 07:04

Tickets to the Harry Potter studio experience or something of that kind. A VR headset (still gaming but a bit different), an fun alarm clock, trainers?

QueenArnica · 10/11/2020 07:15

My DS is 14 but for the last couple of years the family have bought him “experiences” for birthdays and Christmas. Things like, husky mushing (he loves huskies), his favourite football team’s stadium tour, PADI diving introduction, driving experience. Smile

Lavenderteal271 · 10/11/2020 08:18

Weighted blanket
Subscription to a weekly news magazine for kids
Tickets for a local attraction like go ape (we're in Wales so Fforest coaster/zip world)
Nandos card
Nike trainers
Fitbit
Pop figures
Cool water bottle
Rucksack/gym bag

DS is 11 and getting more difficult to buy for each year.

Wejustdontknow · 10/11/2020 09:17

I have a ds14, his Christmas list this year was a graphics card for the pc he built then just a few stocking filler type things. He likes to read so we have got him lord of the rings box set of books and game of thrones set which should keep him busy for a while, a dolce gusto coffee machine with some pods, a sweet subscription from sweetly which will come monthly, cards against humanity family edition ( he has asked a few times for the proper game but I just think it’s to inappropriate) and a drone. His favourite ever gift he didn’t ask for was exploding kittens card game which is excellent and played a lot in our house

MazDazzle · 10/11/2020 22:20

A coffee machine is a good idea! My DD doesn’t drink coffee really, but she’s enjoy the flavoured lattes and hot chocs.

AmyandPhilipfan · 10/11/2020 23:14

I have two boys of eleven and twelve, turning twelve and thirteen early next year. The main thing we’re getting for them is an Alexa device each for their bedrooms. We have them downstairs and they’re always asking them what the time/weather is and I think they’ll like choosing music to listen to on them. We’re also getting them a smart light bulb so they can control that through Alexa, a gaming headset and a new dressing gown. We’re possibly getting them the new Mario Kart game where you drive through your house. They’re also into Roblox, Fortnite, FGeeTV, Harry Potter and Nightmare Before Christmas so they would be happy with bits to do with them.

Wejustdontknow · 11/11/2020 08:17

@MazDazzle that’s why I have gone with the dolce gusto, it seems to have the biggest selection of pods and quite a few are not proper coffee but lattes, macchiatos and hot chocolates
