Nursery neglecting DC?

I'm a FTM so just hoping to get some opinions with this post. My DC (aged 2) goes to nursery full time and generally its going OK, but they do come home with nappy rash at least once a week. Its getting me down because it feels like they aren't taking care of my child. The nursery is an expensive one as well- so it feels like I'm shelling out a lot of money and they aren't looking after my child.
Is this normal for a nursery setting? We've been using them for the last 9 months- before that DC was with a childminder and we never had this issue.

IFyou’ve spoken to them and requested he’s changed more frequently and that you have supplied decent nappy cream then yes it’s neglectful care and you have a right to complain/ escalate this matter.
HOWEVER if you haven’t spoken to them, then that’s what you should be doing first and foremost.

My first was very prone to nappy rash. The nursery showed me the logs and were changing her very regularly but when she was teething even a few minutes would give her a rash. They weren’t doing anything wrong as they were checking very regularly. My second is no where near as sensitive.

As mentioned above, there may be certain foods at nursery that are more acidic than your DC has at home (pasta and a tomato based sauce for instance) that create the type of poo that irritates the skin if not changed immediately.

Also, some wipes contain an ingredient that irritates DD’s skin (it figures highly in Huggies wipes as well as the lowest price supermarket own brands (well, Tesco and Asda at least). These, over a few uses, make her skin go raw whereas Aldi wipes don’t contain this ingredient and seem much gentler)

But if you’re sure it’s not the above, and you suspect that your child is being left in a dirty nappy for a prolonged period of time, I’d definitely complain.
