To ask the things your DH/DW/DP does that irrationally annoy you (lighthearted)

This is lighthearted as I love DH to bits, he’s an all round good human being. But my God, he doesn’t half grate on my nerves at times....

The endless throat clearing when on a call to someone. WFH has made this far more noticeable. I have no idea why the recipients of his calls must think, it is truly endless.

The need to spend ages getting changed into proper walking trousers and hiking boots for even the shortest 20 min walk around the village, as if we are going on a Bear Grylls type outward bound expedition.

I really could go on, but these just came to mind. AIBU to ask the little things that get on your nerves...I’m not looking for any LTB type things, just the idiosyncrasies that we put up with but secretly roll our eyes at!

I asked him for a few things that irritate him.

I leave shit everywhere, true
When I do impressions of him. He went to a well known boarding school and has a very posh accent, think Mark Francis from MiC.
I never sit still, true, I am a massive fidgit, I do have ADHD, so thats my excuse
My face always looks angry, thats just my faces natural state 😂
I’m crap at time keeping, ah very true.

He's a surface cleaner. By which I mean, he won't move anything and will clean around it, and he won't clean inside something.

He puts empty things back in the fridge or cupboards.

He never puts washing away, just dumps it on the bed. Fine, not a problem. But then I'll move it off the bed when I go to bed and dump it on top of the drawers.and then he moans at me that I have a "pile" and never put the pile away! Cheeky bugger.

He leaves cupboard doors open. And will open the big walk in cupboards that I have painstakingly cleaned and organised and just throw stuff in. Out of sight, out of mind. See again, surface cleaner.

I'm also typing this from the loo where I've just noticed the beard hair left in the sink from where he trimmed his beard this morning Hmm LTB for sure! Wink

OllyBJolly · 08/11/2020 19:02

Breathes and eats - both noisily.

Just as well I love him loads

Msfoxy17 · 08/11/2020 19:11

Recognise quite a few of the irksome habits mentioned so far!

Empty packaging put back in fridge or elsewhere including empty sliced bread plastic wrapping back in the bread bin. Just why?!

Never putting anything back in kitchen cupboards or fridge where it was before, meaning cupboards always a mess..

Leaving plug and toys in bath after giving our daughter a bath.

To be honest I could go on for ages...

OhSoScared · 08/11/2020 19:11

Eats soooooo loud. Doesnt chew his food properly so you can actually hear him forcing it down his throat!

Leaves socks on the floor, leaves rubbish on the work surface above the bin rather than in the bin below.

Doesnt concentrate when watching tv/film and then asks me loadssss of questions

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 08/11/2020 19:44

Oh yes. I go to bed a lot earlier than DH. I close the bedroom door when I go to bed, as I can't sleep with light filtering up from downstairs. He always comes up for something, mutters random things under his breath then leaves the door open. Every time! then decides it's time to start wrapping parcels in the kitchen for e bay, which involves a lot of very loud parcel tape noises

Gardengoddess · 08/11/2020 19:50

Crisp eating.. Oh my lord I can't deal with noisy eating.

He now sucks crisps around me, poor man's terrified 😂

Oysterbabe · 08/11/2020 20:13

He leaves things to soak.

He fills up the dishwasher and doesn't turn it on.

When he unloads the dishwasher he doesn't put away complicated things like tuperware or baking trays, just leaves them on the side.

Rhayader · 08/11/2020 20:23

Every time DH changes the baby’s nappy he does the bare minimum.

Only one popper done up, socks taken off and not put back on and trousers not put back on.

UnsolvedTheory · 08/11/2020 20:27

DS has been going through a phase of wetting himself and DH always insists on using the word 'urine' when talking about it, saying 'you have urine on your trousers DS!' instead of 'oh dear have you wet yourself?'... I could probably cope with it except he pronounces urine to rhyme with Maureen. It drives me bonkers.

Do you have any tips 😂😂
tattooedmummy1 · 08/11/2020 20:46

Also. His pockets are always full of rubbish and stuff. That he doesn't empty. The amount of times I've saved his passport or wallet, or money, or bottles of Vape juice from being washed. And the endless amount of rubbish he just stores in his pockets.

Leaving stuff everywhere. And never knowing where anything is 🙄

Basically his existence irritates the shit out of me. Good thing I love him so much!

jambeforeclottedcream · 08/11/2020 21:08

Loud sneezes and my current major gripe the running commentary when watching tv. Just shut up and listen

WilsonMilson · 08/11/2020 21:47

These are great, I’m glad I’m not alone with my minor annoyances Grin

Fischliweiss · 08/11/2020 22:10

Wow I'm in a bit of a mood and reading these posts makes me feel rage.

Mine doesn't do one sneeze he does 10. If he did it right now I would have to work very hard not to scream. Wtf is wrong with him?

MsAwesomeDragon · 08/11/2020 22:18

DJ is obsessed with American politics. Now, this week I understand that, all the other weeks for the past few years I do not understand it. He tells me random bits of American politics as if I should be deeply concerned, but we have literally no connection to America.

He also randomly bursts into song, or says random nonsense whenever he gets bored. That's fine when we're just hanging out, but it's dreadfully annoying when I'm trying to work!

AntiHop · 08/11/2020 22:23

Mumbles. And then accuses me of not listening when I ask him to repeat.

Knottedstomach11 · 08/11/2020 22:33

Leaves the front door open all of the time. It gives me the rage when I pull up in November to a wide open front door & he’s inside asleep???

Leaves water in the leaking kettle. I don’t drink hot drinks so I’m refusing to replace the kettle as I don’t use it. DH fills it for one cup then leaves it to slowly leak all over the counter.

Asks me to top up his phone with credit as it’s quicker for me Confused

Steals my candle lighter

Puts empty cartons back into the fridge so I don’t replace until I need them

Leaves little piles of dirty clothes neatly folded beside the wardrobe instead of using the wash bin.

Never cleans if he cooks & uses every surface in the kitchen. I hate him cooking now it’s less hassle for me to do it as I clear while I clean

Doesn’t listen to me and is genuinely surprised when I tell him something I’ve told him 3 times and get angry

Falls asleep with his dinner plate beside or on top of him on the sofa. Never ever stops to consider locking up the house or not rolling onto his plate

Ohh now I’m angry

Lofari · 08/11/2020 22:45

My DH is very much a morning person. As in rolls out of bed smiling and very often starts singing.
I am NOT a morning person. It doesn't go well
