Remembrance noise

I was woken this morning by a leaf blower at 730. Was obviously quite miffed at this as it’s Sunday and I have a 3 year old who is a poor sleeper. I have since discovered that the blower was due to a remembrance service this morning at 11. AIBU to complain about the noise to the owner of the building tomorrow? I want to point out that this isn’t actually the first time that they’ve had this guy do this so early on a Sunday.

Yes you would be unreasonable on this occasion.

DioneTheDiabolist · 08/11/2020 11:26

want to point out that this isn’t actually the first time that they’ve had this guy do this so early on a Sunday.

Then wait until next time he does it before complaining.

FelicityPike · 08/11/2020 11:26

Wow. ABSOLUTELY unreasonable to complain!

jetadore · 08/11/2020 11:26

Yeh probably let is slide on this occasion but would complain next time if it's a regular occurrence on 'normal' Sundays.

Pearsapiece · 08/11/2020 11:27

It's a leaf blower... Get a grip.

whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 08/11/2020 11:31

Thank you for breaking the divide in my head. I didn’t think so, just wanted to be sure.

I hope you don't have noisy children early in the morning or have been setting off fireworks recently OP.

Here's a plate, I suspect you are going to need it.

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 08/11/2020 11:33

Complain next time it's used early on a Sunday but not on this occasion. You'd be really unreasonable to complain about the noise of someone tidying up with a leaf blower to mark an occasion where people had to listen to the noise of bombs explode & gunfire being opened.

Audreyseyebrows · 08/11/2020 11:34

You know that you are unreasonable!

whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 08/11/2020 11:41

Rocketspin actually I do, he’s SEN and having a terrible time sleeping and distressed when woken at the moment so I was especially aware of it this morning

MrsTwitcher · 08/11/2020 11:45

it would be incredibly insensitive to complain about the noise today, it's Rememberance Sunday. Maybe discuss it with them if it continues every Sunday but not on this occasion.

Chloemol · 08/11/2020 11:47

You are just ridiculous. Get a grip. Just remember the sacrifices made

Beagledbybeagle · 08/11/2020 11:49

You need to see the bigger picture.

WorraLiberty · 08/11/2020 11:53

If he's regularly out there blowing leaves at 7.30 in the morning on a Sunday, then by all means complain.

But your thread title - 'Remembrance noise' is a little odd and really quite off.

Why are you focusing on Remembrance Sunday and not the other early mornings?

whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 08/11/2020 11:55

Stepping away from this now. Was my first (and probably last) thread. Was just hoping to get an idea on timing of an ongoing issue. Won’t make the same mistake twice

OP posts:
whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 08/11/2020 11:56

I basically meant that I can’t complain about it this week can I?

OP posts:
whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 08/11/2020 11:57

Thread title clearly wrong

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 08/11/2020 12:05

Out of interest, where are you that a Remembrance service is allowed to take place OP?

Audreyseyebrows · 08/11/2020 12:07

I think complaining any other Sunday would be fine but today I would forgive.

It is shit having a non sleeper but some days (like today) you just need to suck it up and get on with it.

NetflixWatcher · 08/11/2020 12:09

YABU OP don't be that woman.

WitchesSpelleas · 08/11/2020 12:11

Worra small, socially-distanced services are allowed to take place.

trixiebelden77 · 08/11/2020 12:12

I do 50% nights.

Imagine how I feel about leaf blowers.

Sadly noise like that is a part of living in a community.

All those times when your kids are being noisy at 3pm? It’s 3am to me.

Again. Part of living in a community.

Hopdathelf · 08/11/2020 12:18

Imagine trying to make a remembrance service look nice. People can be such inconsiderate twits.

For clarity, I am not referring to the user of the leaf blower. Hmm

vanillandhoney · 08/11/2020 12:19

@WorraLiberty

Our local one went ahead - it just had to be socially distanced.
WorraLiberty · 08/11/2020 12:31

@WitchesSpelleas

Worra small, socially-distanced services are allowed to take place.
Ahh that's good news. I assumed there wouldn't be any.
