That the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday should be without politicians

I have long felt this, and in any case there are those who have insulted the military by their lack of respect and/or funding. Tony Blair sending troops to Iraq without proper equipment for example.

AIBU to think it should be the Royal Family, military representatives and ambassadors?

I think that is the very reason they should be there. They send them to war, they can stand there in the cold and think about what they did.

Or it should be only people who have fought in wars/served in the military (and not the elite, Royal Family or whoever)

No, they should absolutely be there as our elected representatives.

Well you cant please everyone and people would no doubt be up in arms and claim politicians didn't care if they didn't attend so I personally think on that basis YABU

Completely agree with you! In fact, I've just had this same conversation with DH!

No, they should be there. As PP said, they are the people who send our armed services into conflicts.

As should the Royal Family (who proportionately provide more members to the armed services than most families). Who were a unifying symbol in WWII staying in London not evacuating to the country.
