I don't want to get into the whole debate of whether lockdown is right or wrong!

But aren't M&S taking the piss and bending the rules by keeping stores fully open.
I understand yes the food hall, but most of these are in separate rooms or floors and could be easily split off.
I understand they're struggling but to me it's a bit of a kick in the teeth to those smaller and independent shops that are also struggling but following the rules. What's to stop some of them selling something essential so they can open, and then why bother closing any retail or claiming to be in lockdown at all?

The clothes sections are closed just the food.

@TeddyIsaHe

If people cared as much about poverty, or racism or women’s rights as they do about what frigging shops are open, the world would be infinitely better.
Right freaking on with this!

Garden Centres sell Christmas Trees.
If that's not a lot more essential than Boots' make up, I don't know what is.

I'd file that under "seasonal tat".

M&S by me have the ground floor open because the food hall is on that floor. However, the upper floor is closed off.

Ditto for Tesco. The mezzanine, where the clothes, toys, stationery and homeware is has been sealed off in accordance with the Govt guidelines.

My local m&s is a bit weird as all ground floor departments are open as normal but top floor closed. So you can buy womenswear or beauty as normal, but not men’s or homeward!

Alcohol is very much essential to heavy drinking alcoholics. Stopping drinking suddenly can be fatal

It's also essential to those of us who need good red wine to cope with having all of our children with us almost all of the time, without killing anyone.

I don't understand why my nearest M&S has closed it's loos -
yet they were open in the 1st, stricter lockdown? Odd (& inconvenient)
