Mums health anxiety vs covid

My mum has always been cautious.
She is 74 and dad is 76. They have not left the house since March (other than short drives to move the car).

I’m an only child and have seen them I person about three time’s. Twice on my doorstep and once went to their garden (during the summer).

While, right now, I’m not suggesti long that they do anything different- I think dm doesn’t plan on leaving the house until there is a vaccine. Despite low risk in July etc they still wouldn’t leave the house - still wipe down all deliveries etxX
Not really sure what I’m asking but I’m starting to get scared that I won’t see them properly before something happens to one of them!

All of us with ageing parents feel the same about not seeing them but her anxiety isn’t unfounded. There’s a global pandemic and her age group is particularly susceptible to dying from the virus. I think you need to be a bit more sympathetic- they’ve made a choice based on their understanding of the illness. My partner works in healthcare and is very much the same with wiping down deliveries and not visiting family. It’s not unreasonable.

If more people had taken it as seriously as your parents then perhaps you’d be seeing them properly by now. Give your mum a break. She’s scared of dying,

Be glad that they are protecting themselves. My parents have been very careful too, and I am thankful for it. Another elderly relative is currently in hospital with covid while his wife is at home alone self isolating. It's very frightening for them both.

Do they both seem happy doing what they are doing? Would they ( and you) be okay with socially distanced walks ( assuming that is allowed where you are)? What did they do before?

I am glad they are being careful - but I mean they haven’t left the house since March. Literally that (other than to move the car).
No walks etc.

Sorry I realise my Op makes it sound like I think they should be out and about - I don’t at all - and think, right now they are doing the right thing - but even when there were far fewer risks in the summer they didn’t leave the house - at all.

Before this - mum was working - she quit her job when the pandemic started.

What are you asking? It isn't clear and it isn't obvious what your AIBU is.

I think they have been over-cautious in not going out for walks though. My mother who is 89 and has very severe COPD goes out for a walk with her walking frame most days. She feels "use it or lose it" about it and sometimes bumps into someone she can chat to in the street which is a bonus as she lives alone.
