Is there anyone can remember Popsy pants from the early 90's?

Feeling very nostalgic, just caught an episode of Top of the Pops on catch up from February 1990 and got thinking of my lovely Popsy pants and matching hooded top I wore to death. Was trying to explain to DH what they looked like and all I could come up with was pyjamas... Tried googling but can't find anything remotely like them, don't know if they were a North East trend but I loved them along with my NafCo54 bomber and tan suede wallaby shoes. Ahhh take me back to the school disco....

I certainly had something that sounds similar....didn’t call them popsy pants though I was in Cardiff then, so maybe a regional thing.I definitely had purple suede Wallabies to wear with my “pyjama” type trousers with matching hooded top. Bought my daughter something not dissimilar in Urban Outfitters last week and felt quite nostalgic! I remember my parents being horrified when I first wore that outfit Grin
Now I want to be at the disco too. They were happy days....

I'm so intrigued as to what they are now?! I thought you meant like Adidas poppers from the title.

What material were they?
What do you mean like pyjamas?
How did they get that name?

I'm sure it had Popsy or poppy written down the leg, they were really quite baggy and tied at the ankles with cord. Mine was black and lilac and my BFF had black and lime green 🤣🤣 I had the black NafNaf jacket and hers was turquoise. Looking at the price of Naf now they quite obviously knock offs from the market but by God we were the cats whiskers in our matching get ups and Emma had the purple wallaby's 😁

They were just a thin cotton kind of sweat pant material iirc and just dead baggy, relaxed kind of outfits. I'm sure it was around the time dungarees with braces left loose were a thing as well, hyperglobal t-shirt times (ish)

I don't recall them at all.

I remember the coats. Very well. Maybe they were just a lot cheaper then 😂 didn't realise they were still going.

There was NafNaf and then there was Naff Co 54 which was the market stall rip off. Someone has started making Naff Co again just recently - presumably to cash in on the 90s memories.

Anyone remember the Benetton duffle bags?

Mine tied up with cord at the ankles too!! Been thinking and I bought mine at “Barker’s” in Cardiff. We also used to buy Barker Baggy jeans from there, which were ridiculously baggy jeans that were totally in flattery. But I thought I looked like a legend in themGrin.
I really think this store may have been a “Cardiff” thing though. It’s not there anymore.
I didn’t have a NafNaf jacket but wore something with an enormous hood that spread right across my shoulders. Looking back, I was a total chavBlush

Lupinhere37 · 07/11/2020 23:32

Typo .... should have read totally unflattering (the baggy jeans!)

Whenlifegivesyoulimoncello · 07/11/2020 23:58

I never knew naff co were a rip off brand! That's mad. I remember wanting a nafnaf coat in the early 90s and my dad mocking me saying that's naf. The hilarity.
