Why don’t they just get some bloody aircon units for the bake off tent

Watching on catch up tonight and it’s sweltering in the tent and everyone is sweating and it’s ruining the food....

Absolutely agree about the time thing. It's an entirely fake scenario which can really turn the whole idea of 'best' Baker / sewer etc into 'who copes best under pressure' which is hardly the same thing

Aa for sewing bee, I started stitching a pyjama top, this afternoon. Already cut out in 2 hours, I threaded my machine - including 10 minutes dealing with the fact that the bobbin winder decides to eat my thread, which had to be unwound by hand, reinforced, stitched and finished the shoulder seams, stitched, pressed, pinned and machine basted the neckband, then spent fucking ages unpicking the neckband because it was too baggy. Made the band shorter and next time I shall go back to hand basting because it's actually quicker.

Ooh yes I completely agree about the time trial aspect. Hate it. Also, I would rather they all stayed right through the competition and had a score board with a winner at the end

Yanbu I agree in normal times some tasks inside like ice cream. I think there should be a mixture of lengths of task so that we can really see what the baker/sewer/potter can do both slower and under time pressure. The really good or over ambitious ones will add extras on but everyone has a fair go.

I can’t do any of these things but coming on MN and finding from proper bakers that three hours is physically not enough time for the task, hence them all looking a bit rubbish is intensely frustrating.

While we are at it I’d also like a couple of tasks with no presenters with the bakers to distract them and mess about trying to make things jolly. Just cameras and a voice-over.

Not in all cases - aircon that goes outside, rather than just recirculating what's already there is legal and actually an essential part of a premises becoming 'Covid Safe' if there aren't opening windows.

So they could, theoretically move to a proper indoor area with air con and solve all the made for dramatic effect climate issues pretty easily. If they wanted to.

Also I can’t stand Noel Fielding’s grabby little hands and generally creepy way of being - he has no sense of personal space and I bet he has clammy palms
