To think I can see something here..?!

Hello!

So I've tested this morning using FMU with a clear blue digital test.
I got a 'not pregnant' result but the test was still flashing at this time, so I wondered if there could have been an error with the screen..

Anyway I don't ever usually open up tests, but since it didn't look to be working properly I opened it up, and the below is the result I received.

I'm reading mixed messages online as to if this means I'm pregnant but too early for this particular test to pick up, or if this line is supposed to be there?

Please note that this test is NOT a test that tells you how many weeks etc, it's simply just 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant' x

@iklboogeymum

YABU just for posting this in AIBU rather than on a pregnancy forum.

What rank in The Thread Police are you?

I would imagine that there are many site users who have certain topics hidden for very good reasons.

The OP has used a very vague title so it's not just as simple as "well don't open the thread then"

@superconfused1 if you click the "report" button on your post, you can ask MN to move your thread to the appropriate section.

So I've taken a FRER.. obviously not using FMU and I have had drinks throughout the day but tried to hold on without going to the toilet for an hour and a half.
Here's the results.. looks negative to me. 😔

To think I can see something here..?!

Look, as kindly as possible you're just wasting your money right now. It's simply too early to test, especially if you're not using FMU. I know it's easier said than done, but there really isn't any point testing, and testing late in the day, until you're at least a couple of days away from your due period. Otherwise you might as well just chuck money straight into the bin for all the good it does.

Get yourself some cheap tests in a week or so, best of luck.

ValidUser · 07/11/2020 15:57

@superconfused1 the FRER looks like my earliest positives 4 days after a 5 day transfer (equivalent of 9dpo) (IVF baby) (tested the trigger shot out and had a blank test on day 3).

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:02

@BrumBoo thank you, I'm not testing until AF is late now. It's been a long difficult cycle. I'm on cycle day 38 after a miscarriage last month x

OP posts:
superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:03

@ValidUser ohh really? In what way? I don't think I can see even a squinted in my pic 😟 xx

Don't give false hope. The last test posted is categorically negative and it's quite cruel to suggest otherwise.

Twigletfairy · 07/11/2020 16:08

I think all digital tests have 2 lines if you open them up.

You're testing too early, especially with digital. Digitals tend to be the least sensitive, save those for when your period is already late. Stick with the FRER. You are going to drive yourself round the bend if you keep testing this early though. I know its really hard, but it's better to wait until your period is due, rather than desperately squinting at tests still not sure whether its positive or negative. Youre literally passing money down the toilet. Wait at least until 12dpo, then use your first morning wee with a FRER. I've been there, I made myself ill squinting at tests and changing the lighting on photos etc.

superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:10

@Twigletfairy thank you. I know in the back of my mind I shouldn't be testing but I just feel a bit lost since the miscarriage last month I think 😞
It's been a really tough and long cycle, I'm going to wait until AF is due - it should be in 4 days time but who knows. X

OP posts:
Twigletfairy · 07/11/2020 16:11

Just seen your update, im sorry about your miscarriage. They can make your cycles all over the place, which is why Dr's sometimes recommend waiting for a period in between trying again. That's not a criticism by the way, I did the same as you. Good luck

superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:12

@Twigletfairy it's okay - I know it's something slot of people go through! It's hard though isn't it 😔 sort you've been through the same.
We'll see what this cycle holds. Just feel like I'm clutching at straws a little bit hoping for a miracle x

ValidUser · 07/11/2020 16:13

@BrumBoo I think it's really unkind to accuse a person of cruelty who genuinely feels that they did see something on a test. Maybe I've just spent so much time staring at these tests through fertility treatment that I see a line where there is none. It might be my colour vision (I do have some difficulty, but could always read my own years of BFNs fine!). But I wasn't lying.

@superconfused1 it might be my screen. I could be completely incorrect. I've inverted it and still feel like I see something subtle. Genuinely not trying to give false hope.

superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:17

@ValidUser it's okay I've not taken offence at all - thanks so much for looking at it for me!

Is there a private message option on here? I'd love to see the inverted pic to see if maybe I'm missing the line. It could be faint or it could just not be there.
Either way I've also looked at so many of these tests before 🤣 maybe I've missed something xx

OP posts:
BrumBoo · 07/11/2020 16:17

@ValidUser, I never said you were lying however unless its as clear as day its positive then false hope shouldn't be given. It's not just yourself, many of these threads have posters declaring 'I can see two lines!' when it's evidently not the case. It's unkind to an op who is obviously desperate for a positive.

ValidUser · 07/11/2020 16:26

@BrumBoo I think we disagree on what constitutes "false hope." I just commented on what I saw, without claiming to be any authority on pregnancy-test interpretation.

And, as its early, a person could have a blazing positive a few days later. (To be clear, I'm not implying that anybody will.

@superconfused1 you can download "pregnancy test checker" for free.

(I know people talk about testing too early, but it's how we found out I have a clotting disorder that prevented a pregnancy going beyond about 4 weeks. We got as far as implantation, but not beyond it. This allowed us to treat my clotting disorder through a haematologist and have the beginnings of success. No chance would I have ever stayed pregnant without finding out.)

superconfused1 · 07/11/2020 16:30

@ValidUser thank you. I'll have a look on there! Xx and again please don't worry about giving false hope or anything like that - Im old enough to know that people interpret things differently and see different things. I've been through enough heartaches already ☺️💓

OP posts:
ValidUser · 07/11/2020 16:31

@superconfused1 I genuinely hope you get a long-term, persistent (for about 9 months) positive very, very soon. X

It could be a positive in a few days. Its not now. If you need to ask the internet, invert the photo or do any other sort of 'check' that is beyond your own two eyes, then it's negative for now. How pregnancy tests work are very clear - two undisputable lines within the test time limit. You don't need to be an 'authority on pregnancy tests' to know that. So kindly don't give false hope, regardless of your own journey it's still unkind.

ValidUser · 07/11/2020 16:34

@BrumBoo I'm so, so mean and I'm ever so sorry. I'll never say what I see again! 😂

If you're seeing imaginary lines often then perhaps its for the best.

ValidUser · 07/11/2020 16:37

😂 @BrumBoo
