To ask you how to find underpants that don't dig in?

This sounds ridiculous now I'm writing it but do other people find that most underpants ride up, give you a wedgie and feel like they're cutting off the blood supply at the top of your legs all at the same time?

It's not that I'm in denial about my size! I find that they just seem to go wedgie like and the bit around the leg holes always digs in on the inside of the groin area joint!

Does anyone else find this to be a problem? I've tried boy shorts, bikini style (the worst offenders) and a variety of pretty ones but all I want is some cotton pants that don't throttle my groin 😬

Is there a particular style or a brand anyone swears by? I'd be very grateful as I'm at the point of possibly giving up on pants and just wearing pyjama bottoms all the time!

I have found these to be wonderful: not super cheap, but for me worth it.

Everything I've bought from them, including the leisurewear, is so, so comfortable.

I second thunderpants but they are pricey. Last well though.

Happyhappyday · 07/11/2020 05:02

I used to buy the Victoria secret cotton bikini ones, 5 for £25 and they were fine, didn’t last super long though. I’m 5’4”, 8.5 stone, don’t know if you’re looking for something specifically in bigger sizes. I’ve recently switched over to Patagonia though, technically they are for travel and SO comfortable. Closer to £20/pair though I think.

Bickles · 07/11/2020 05:19

I always buy pants 2 sizes too big, it seems to work.

Lucy830 · 07/11/2020 05:22

Black ‘shorts’ (knickers) from Tesco are very comfy! You can buy in a multipack of 5.

DarkMutterings · 07/11/2020 05:23

I've switched all my pants to these

Incredibly comfortable, not lines and the mocha is brilliant for my skin tone under white clothes.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 07/11/2020 05:44

I find Fat Face bikinis much more comfy than the ones from M&S. Pricier, but they wear and wash well.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 07/11/2020 05:56

I love jockey underwear; full briefs or french cut
It's really nice cotton, and all of the elastic is covered.

I used to buy it in the states, but recently found it online here - currently with 50% off.
check the size charts - 14 is XL or XXL I think

I don't understand underwear sizing at all. I almost always size up 3 or 4 sizes to get a comfortable fit. Why don't they just make pants that are big enough in the first place?!

AbsentmindedWoman · 07/11/2020 06:26

This must be a really individual thing. I remember being so excited to try boy shorts style when I heard how comfortable they were - not to me. I cannot wear them they just feel so bulky to me!

Bikinis and minis are the shapes that work for me. There's also not that much fabric to begin with, so for days you want loose-fitting underwear you can size up happily without there being bulky folds.

Redcrayons · 07/11/2020 06:34

Size up
Boy shorts or full briefs. The bigger the better for me.

Breathmiller · 07/11/2020 06:50

I only wear one kind of pants now.
Tesco no seam stretchy high leg. They come in white black and nude i think ( but i only have black ones) High enough to go over my belly but enough coverage to cover my arse. And they don't dig into my thighs. The leg edges are stretchy too.
Stretchy but hold everything in comfortably.
I actually want period pants but can't find ones that are as comfy as these and will not put up with uncomfy knickers ever again.

Mummadeeze · 07/11/2020 07:01

M&S high leg knickers, 2-3 sizes too big. Don’t feel too big and are extremely comfortable!

StarlightLady · 07/11/2020 08:06

Now that we have established we are genuinely discussing knickers, l find the M&S Brazilians really comfy, they have soft stretch lace around the legholes and come in a nice range of colours; important to me.

Some linked here just come in white (reminds me of school), black or a shade of beige that makes my crotch look as if it’s made of cardboard.

Newfornow · 07/11/2020 08:08

Forgo the diggers.

QueenPaws · 07/11/2020 08:36

Not to everyone's taste but these are the comfiest ever. Wearing high waist ones today and can't even feel them

Op, you sound a similar shape to me. By bum is large by round, like a shelf situation at my lower back that makes finding jeans a mare. My legs might be chubbier than yours though. I think my bum is like a vacuum because it’s so deep!

Thisisworsethananticpated · 07/11/2020 10:43

Just get the biggest black cotton pants you can , and size up if necessary

bilbodog · 07/11/2020 10:52

Sloggies

Schiehallion · 07/11/2020 10:56

Have a look at Wirarpa pants, very similar to Thunder pants, cotton/ spandex, generous around the gusset and so comfortable.
Cost around £20 for a pack of four pairs on Azamon.

canigooutyet · 07/11/2020 11:09

"Normal" knickers do this to me regardless of if I size up or not.
Cannot wear the shorts from Primark, Peacocks, Matalan, M&S, Victoria Secret or Bravissimo.

Boux avenue have amazing shorts and I never have to size up. Tesco also fit really good, just the material isn't as soft.

Of tangent slightly, Boux avenue also do really good bra fitting service even though they sometimes use a tape measure. (register with them and they have a reward scheme, referral stuff)

Northernsoullover · 07/11/2020 12:06

M and S full briefs. Changed my life!

MustardMitt · 07/11/2020 12:10

Surprisingly, Brazilian style from Asda don’t feel nice and secure despite looking like a modified thong!

But - I tend to wear massive briefs that come up to my belly button. I’m too fat for anything else.
