Hating Construction Noise

I live in a built-up area, but had a large garden bordered by a school playing field, and a neighbour's large garden. Now my peaceful paradise has a playing field having nearly 200 properties built on, and also have construction on the other side, where the scaffolding is abutting my fence, because the neighbour sold that part of their property. I accept that we're in a position where housing is being thrown up everywhere, and we need much more affordable housing (not happening). I went on-line to check construction regulations, (because machinery was starting up next to our bedroom around 7.30am) believing it to be allowed 8 til 6, Monday to Friday, etc. However, apparently everything is now allowed, with legislation slipping through unannounced, under the guise of covid-19 rules. I found this, on the official government website:

"How can a developer benefit from this?"
'Developers should expect their local planning authority to grant temporary changes to construction working hours until 9pm or later, 6 days a week, wherever possible and where construction working hours are controlled by planning condition. This flexibility is in relation to control imposed by the planning system only ..'

I feel your pain, we live on a new build estate. They are building across from us. 6 days a week from 7.30am it is constant noise. Some residents complained about how early the works are starting and were told that they have been given special permission to do longer hours (I assume to catch up after the lockdown).

I feel your pain. We live on a university campus. The university is constantly building more housing and new academic facilities. There are also highrise housing projects just off campus. They are also upgrading a busy road, putting in barriers and bike lanes.

All of this requires big trucks backing up. That means we listen to back up beepers literally all day. Sometimes several at a time. It drives me mad.

Unfortunately I have a rescue dog very sensitive to noise. We took him on when he was eight, and he'd never lived in a home. It took a long time to potty-train him, and now we're struggling to get him out of the house at all.
