3 confirmed positives Covid cases in her year group (100 pupils) and she’s in the clinically extremely vulnerable group.

Argh... this is all so shit.

She’s in her final year and struggled mentally with lockdown.

Has she not been asked to isolate? If not assume she's not been in close contact with those affected.

What does she want to do?

Sexnotgender · 04/11/2020 20:21

No, thankfully she’s not been in direct contact with any of the cases.

She doesn’t mind either way really she says.

I don't think you're unreasonable to be worried, but if you'd both still like her to go, i don't think that's unreasonable either. Can you make it safer somehow? By wearing a mask etc.

starrynight19 · 04/11/2020 20:24

I personally would if she is cev from the new guidance I think she will be advised to stay at home anyway.
So difficult for her in this crucial time.

D4rwin · 04/11/2020 20:34

Though shouldn't the whole year group all be self isolating anyway?

AlwaysLatte · 04/11/2020 20:34

I wouldn't hesitate to pull her out in your situation.

SansaSnark · 04/11/2020 20:35

New guidance as of this evening suggests she should stay home regardless, so YADNBU.

3 cases doesn't necessarily trigger a year group isolating anymore. PHE seem to now want "evidence" it is being transmitted in school.

So if e.g. all 3 cases had potentially caught it at home, the year group won't be sent home.

Only those in the ‘bubbles’.

She isn’t in any classes with the people tested positive.

Souldyurr · 04/11/2020 20:37

I would. In the school I teach in, students are sent home if they sit in front of, behind, or either side of a confirmed case in a seating plan. If they have contact at any other time (lunch times, hallways, PE etc) then they aren't told to isolate. I can't speak for other schools but I would definitely pull out a vulnerable child just in case.

I’ve not seen the guidance, we’re in Scotland if that makes a difference?

Doesn't it say though that school pupils should still attend school unless they've been told not to by their GP/consultant?

What does her HCP say, OP?

Silversun83 · 04/11/2020 20:41

Oh, sorry that's the guidance for England.

Sexnotgender · 04/11/2020 20:42

Her respiratory consultant says she should follow any advice issued for cystic fibrosis patients. She doesn’t have CF but it’s the closest analogy to her condition.

OP posts:
kmojojana · 04/11/2020 22:09

If you need to follow CF guidance and were living in England she should stay home and isolate as classed as ECV. Not sure if being in Scotland means the same

Sexnotgender · 05/11/2020 06:32

She’s not going in. There are now 10 pupils in her year group isolating.
