I work in a fairly sensitive role now, that some people would not be able to do. Obviously I wouldn’t delight in someone’s death and I did not mean to insinuate I’d be there enjoying it at all, if that’s what some people have taken from my question.
I do believe a sense of humour is needed in dark times at least amongst work colleagues, to make what you are doing bearable sometimes. I’m not talking cracking jokes etc
It’s a role I would find fascinating, but I am very aware that books and tv is nowhere near a real life comparison. I was referring to having a strong stomach, that sort of thing really.
I was also shocked that no experience is asked for and wondered if it’s mostly an admin job. It was extremely useful to hear from people that have actually done the job, which is why I asked if anyone held this job in my title. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, an amount of emotional resilience would be required, as discussed by one of the posters who have done the job.
“People can tell when they're being dealt with by someone who doesn't give a shit - and it is damaging.
Your posts make it sound like you've already dehumanised everybody you'd be working for.” -
You could not be more wrong and that was not my intent at all.
Thank you to the posters who have held these positions and for your helpful and insightful responses.
