To buy a trampoline for 2 year old?

Shamelessly posting for traffic. Blush

My dd from the age of around 15 has had indoor bouncy castles...

Lockdown and all groups cancelled plus bad weather made me buy them but they’ve had holes ect and none of lasted.

My dd can properly jump and loves to be active. I’m lost in a minefield of trampolines on amazon and bad reviews and no clue which brand to go for. It’s like there’s always something bad. Money isn’t an issue I just don’t know which to go for. Has to be safe ect and enclosed.

I know she’s a bit young for one but she’s been jumping for months, and currently now tries to jump off sofas onto hard wooden floors and I’m worried she’ll hurt herself badly on our wooden floors.

Anyway brands welcome I thinking 6ft or 8ct max will be kelly indoors.

Any help appreciated Grin

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for trampoline recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best trampolines page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their kids. We hope you find it useful.

Definitely not unreasonable. Our trampoline is the best thing I ever bought my two dcs. They use it loads and even when the weather's a bit grey they'll still have a bounce. Get as big a one as you reasonably can!

Oh ours is Jumpking, very happy with it. Green edge etc means it blends into garden much more than bright blue ones! Got it from an online trampoline shop

AlwaysLatte · 03/11/2020 16:44

Ours is Plum, it's good quality and has stood the weather well in the 4 years we've had it.

VeggieSausageRoll · 03/11/2020 16:46

Not sure if I dreamt it (entirely possible) but are they not recommended under 4 years due to the potential for hip issues?

DaddysGirlForLife · 03/11/2020 16:49

This is the one we have. Galt. About £60 I think, last Christmas. My 3yr old has a disability so it's a part of her physio. Highly recommend. Smile

It saved our sanity in the last lockdown! Great way to blow off some steam

Breastfeedingworries · 03/11/2020 16:57

Thanks all! Yeah I’ve wondered about hip issues, one I’ve linked it’s supposed to have special springs or something so it’s “safe”

I’m just totally lost. In fairness the bouncy castles were 3+ so maybe I was wrong to buy those. I just need a safer way to wear her it instead of the risk of her jumping off sofa ect. Today she’s just bashed her head when my dad wasn’t fast enough for her Sad

We’re at my parents house, think big old stone floors and wooden floor boards.
I shall look Up those brands thanks Flowers

Brilliant idea. Go for it.

gigglingHyena · 03/11/2020 18:53

The one you have linked looks like it has elastic cord rather than metal springs, they do feel a bit more gentle. A really small light child doesn't get much spring from a big trampoline designed for a heavier child.

We had a similar one and found was it small and quite enclosed feeling with the net. It didn't feel that safe to me in the end as they were unable to stay in the centre so were forever crashing into the net too. In the end we got rid of it and waited a few years till they were big enough for a larger sprung one.

Breastfeedingworries · 03/11/2020 22:32

Well I ended up with a plum one, after readOMG @AlwaysLatte S contribution. Grin

It’s ordered now, I did look at jumpking but as most are over 1000 they’re huge! So will wait for that when she’s lot older Wink

I’m so excited for it to arrive! She massively needs an outlet for her energy in this lockdown!

She'll be so excited!!

Ahh, what a lovely present. Mine would have absolutely loved this at 2 - wish we could fit one in the garden!

LouLou2020 · 04/11/2020 09:51

Trampolines shouldn’t be used repetitively by anyone under 6. This is because their bones aren’t hard enough to withstand repeated jumping and their retinas aren’t fully attached. Repeated bouncing can cause the retina to become disattached resulting in blindness and needing an operation to fix. I’m a trampoline coach (with British gymnastics) and we won’t take children until they’re 6.
