To switch nurseries because of a 5G tower?

Internshipquestion · 02/11/2020 00:24

So my daughter is 3 and at a pre school/nursery that she loves. However, around a month ago a 5G tower was inserted right by the building (maybe 10m away max). Now I know there are no confirmed health issues, but I am getting really anxious and losing sleep over it, incase there are any unknown long term consequences etc.

Basiaclly what would you do?

Yabu = don't move her
Yanbu = move her

I’m sorry you are so anxious, but I do think you are overthinking this. The towers are ugly, but your dd will not get ill from being near one a few hours each day.

pinotgrigio · 02/11/2020 00:44

What do you think is the difference between 2G, 3G, 4G - all of which we have been living with for years, and 5G?

pinotgrigio · 02/11/2020 00:49

And sorry, I do appreciate your concern! The 5G thing is a new concern that people are worrying about and you are only trying to do the right thing by your DD.

I was just trying to say that we've had these mobile towers for decades now and they haven't been proven to cause any health issues.

yelyah22 · 02/11/2020 00:50

YABU. I know you're bound to be anxious about your daughter - that's being a parent - but don't believe everything you read online for your own sanity!

Internshipquestion · 02/11/2020 00:51

I know everything is most likely fine! I was hoping for these responses tbh, I think the past 6+ months has let so many conspiracy theories run wild and it has made me even more anxious than I usually am!

I figure they are everywhere and 3G 4G etc. is not different to 5G I don't think, and no as far as we are aware you cannot get Corona from them.

I am sure if you look hard enough there could be lots of things that you could talk yourself into worrying about - personally this is not of them I would

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 02/11/2020 00:52

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

YABU and (sorry) ridiculous

SquirtleSquad · 02/11/2020 00:54

What are your actual concerns here? That it will fall and crush them?

Internshipquestion · 02/11/2020 00:58

@squirtlesquad the fact that the frequency is higher than the others, although I logically know its less than visible light and non-ionising. I do have actual anxiety so this is just fueling it i guess. 😭

Internshipquestion · 02/11/2020 00:58

Logically I known its fine, I just keep worrying and overthinking it

Internshipquestion · 02/11/2020 00:59

I know you cant get corona from them, I did a science degree so have understand the basics of it all😭😂

Also, sorry for my spelling, I should be sleeping by now!

We don’t know the long term effects of 5G so you are not being unreasonable to be cautious.

Wow. I don't understand why people are being rude? Yes I did a science degree at a Russel Group and I got a 1st. Does this mean I can't have anxiety and ask for reassurance? Did you miss the part where I said that I understood it was illogical.

No I do not think there is a need for rudeness but a poster starts a thread knowing the thought is illogical you will be either told you are being illogical or by other posters who use anxiety themselves to say they are also illogical so agree with you.

so what is the point? what do you actually want the replies to be?

Sure people can start any topic they want but if you know yourself you are illogical then not sure you will get the reply you are looking for

PurpleMonkeyDishwasher86 · 02/11/2020 05:58

Don't move her. You'd be playing into your anxieties and from experience I know that isn't a good thing. I suffer from agoraphobia and with lockdown and Covid it's got out of hand. The more you feed it, the more it will eat.

dontwantamirena · 02/11/2020 06:24

There’s no reason to move her and you know that. There’s nothing to worry about.

However, if it continues to cause you sleeping issues for a long period, just move her so you can get better sleep. Her being or not being at that nursery will not make that much difference but your lack of sleep will.

Hangingover · 02/11/2020 06:27

The thing about anxiety is... asking for reassurance is kicking the can down the road. It'll just latch onto something else next week. Believe me, I know where you're coming from!

Acdcccc · 02/11/2020 06:35

It's not as straightforward as saying it's dangerous or safe.

As far as I can tell there is no consensus in the scientific community on what the possible effects might be.

Shoxfordian · 02/11/2020 06:39

Have you spoken to a doctor about your anxiety?

rorosemary · 02/11/2020 06:41

Since the tower is so close, won't most of it just go over her head anyway? Or is that too simple?

midnightstar66 · 02/11/2020 06:43

Soon enough all the old towers will be replaced, where will it end will you move house, schools, hobbies etc to avoid them? No I wouldn't move my child for this
