Will events like graduation go ahead next summer? And are you booking travel abroad?

What do you think? I'm forlornly hoping my graduation ceremony might be able to happen!

If winter is really tough but things ease by the middle of the year - what will summer be like? Are you hoping to travel next summer?

I'm only hoping to travel in the UK next summer tbh. I think it would be silly to pre book things that far ahead anymore

hopeishere · 01/11/2020 22:31

Too soon to say. Personally I would not book anything yet.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 01/11/2020 22:34

Not booking a holiday until it’s safe to travel so hoping 2022. Would be lovely if next year but it will take time to roll out the vaccine etc.

AbsentmindedWoman · 01/11/2020 22:35

Agree it's too early to get tied into bookings you can't cancel. Too risky.

Nice to daydream about being able to do all these things though!

I’m always hopeful but prepared to change plans.
For next august I found a bargain Spain self catering deal via easyJet holidays that was significantly reduced from an already reasonable price. I paid the deposit but it comes with the benefit that you don’t have to pay anymore until 4 weeks b4, and you can cancel and get your deposit credited back to easyJet account. I would make regular domestic flights to see family anyway or worse case could plan a staycation with the money if I cancel, so reckoned I couldn’t lose. It’s ATOL protected too which is essential now

We've booked for September next year, but paid for cancellation insurance about €20pp just in case

caringcarer · 01/11/2020 22:44

I won't be booking anything as some travel firms might go bust and you could lose your money. I have a holiday home in Brittany, France near to lovely beaches and I usually go for 6 weeks in the summer. I did not go this year.and will wait to see about next year. I hope you have a lovely graduation ceremony though. In the summer restrictions will be lifted.

A big sporting event that I usually go to in May has already decided to go ahead without the massive amount of spectators they usually have. I’m not holding my breath for anything yet (and my son will also graduate next year).

AbsentmindedWoman · 01/11/2020 23:12

I hope you have a lovely graduation ceremony though.

Thank you, @caringcarer Smile

We’ll probably go back to where we went this year. Flights with BA, booking direct with house owners

We were considering going further afield (USA) but that’s probably better if we shunt that to 2022 now I think.

Nothing fixed in stone yet, but we’ll still travel

MzHz · 02/11/2020 11:35

Yeah, really hope you get to have your graduation ceremony! 🤞

unmarkedbythat · 02/11/2020 11:36

I don't know. I wouldn't book anything now though.

We have flights booked for later in the year. If the airline goes bust, which could happen, we are covered by travel insurance.
