Or is anyone else annoyed when people copy and paste the WHOLE of the OP in their post before responding? I get why people copy and paste small sections if they are responding to a particular part of the post. But please don’t copy and paste the whole bloody thing. We have eyes! We have already read it at the top of the page!!!

@ninninannonoonoo

The quote option is relatively new.

It is very useful when you want to quote a short post, and it also includes the name of the poster.

However, I totally agree with you that quoting posts which are many paragraphs long is not realy helpful. You can just use the @ function to make it clear what/who you are referring to.

I have recently seen a few posts where the first person to respond will quote the entire OP. There really is no need to do this and it just looks silly.

Thanks for your explanation. I thought it must be a relatively new thing as it’s only recently that I’ve noticed people quoting the whole of the OP. I get the use of it when you’re responding to another person’s comment in the thread - like this. But if you’re responding to the original post isn’t that obvious? Is there really any purpose in quoting the whole of the original post?

@Chemenger - It’s to stop those posts that just say “ I totally agree with the PP” or “Chemenger, as usual, makes a good point” Grin

I find it irritating when someone quotes the whole of someone's post just to say "This ^" rather than just the salient point. Unless, I suppose they think the entire post was quoteworthy? I dunno, I get irritated by people referring to a thread as a post, blaming their phone for their spelling mistakes and typos, adding their own details to make the OP fit their own narrative, picking on a poster for something said by someone else...

I think it depends on the size of the first post
