Posting for traffic. Need to travel urgently to Paris

I have to take something urgent to a disabled relative of mine in Paris before we lock down on Wednesday.

Can someone please explain to me what I can and cannot do? Eg could I get on a eurostar to Paris tonight, not see anyone but my relative, and come back on Tuesday before lockdown and self isolate in the UK for 15 days?

That is how I am reading it...

Is it something you could send by courier?

MoveOnTheCards · 01/11/2020 14:19

That’s fine from a UK POV but what are the rules in Paris?

WhoseThatGirl · 01/11/2020 14:19

Why not post it?

WhoseThatGirl · 01/11/2020 14:19

France are in lockdown

Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 01/11/2020 14:20

But isn’t Paris in a lock down itself? So you won’t be able to enter? I’m not sure if the answer sorry Op, hope you get it sorted.

jellybeanz1212 · 01/11/2020 14:25

Can your relative meet you at the station of the eurostar or send item in a taxi once you get there? Then just come straight home

iMatter · 01/11/2020 15:00

Isn't France in lockdown?

I think you need to look at it from UK and French side

Is a courier an option?

BenchHench · 01/11/2020 15:04

What is it? Can't you courier it?

InTheLongGrass · 01/11/2020 15:07

Paris is in lock down. Newspapers take on rules here. I think your raise on the UK side of things is correct.
Echoing the other posters, can you courier it?

ninninannonoonoo · 01/11/2020 15:21

France is in lockdown.

You will need to provide evidence of a negative test.

Anyone who is outside of their home needs to have a valid "attestation". These are signed, dated and timed for every single journey that you make outside of your home - yes, even for your 1 hour exercise which must be within 1km of your home address!

This is the link to the relevant forms but I don't know if any of these would be valid for you as you are (presumably) not a French resident.

I am a foreign national. Can I enter France?

  1. If you are arriving from a country on the list below, you can enter metropolitan France without any COVID-19-related restrictions or paperwork.

Member States of the European Union, Andorra, the Holy See, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Once in France, you need an 'attestation' to reach your accommodation and to move around

Where did you see a negative test was required? I can't find any information on this

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 01/11/2020 15:30

What is it?

I think a courier company is going to be your best (maybe only) option. I think getting into Paris is going to be your main problem, not here (England).

Nacreous · 01/11/2020 15:32

I put YANBU as I think the English side is correct, but then realised I don't know how the French would work.

BritWifeinUSA · 01/11/2020 15:52

Is the item (medical equipment?) not available in France? Unless it’s medically necessary, can’t it wait?

ninninannonoonoo · 01/11/2020 15:58

@smalalalalalala

Apologies - I am pretty sure that that is what Macron said in his speech, but it is hard to find a relevant link (some of it is a little ambiguous!).

I think I misunderstood what he said - arrivals from within the Schengen/EU zone are exempt from the requirement.

Sorry for the confusion Blush

AcornAutumn · 01/11/2020 18:18

Hope you get it sorted OP.
