Would you got for a photoshoot today?

I had a family Christmas photoshoot booked in for the 18th November.

Since we’re going into to lockdown this has been cancelled but we’ve been offered a slot this afternoon.

It’s on a studio, which is an extension to the photographers house, so it’s not overly big.

She sent me their Covid information which said she checks her families temperatures daily, she cleans the studio between sessions and asks people to use hand gel when they arrive.

The part which made me feel a bit uneasy was that she said it’s at my discretion if we want masks in place.
She went on to say they aren’t a vulnerable house house so are happy to not wear masks as it makes it easier for them to get pictures of the baby smiling.
But she said if we want them to wear masks, they will.

I’m asthmatic so I’d be requesting a mask but it’s making me wonder now how many clients she may have been around without masks (that’s assuming the other clients have said they’re happy with no masks)

I really can’t decide what to do for the best.

It’s our daughters first Christmas and whilst I’m fully aware it’s not going to be the Christmas we had imagined, I’d still like to I make it as special as possible.
I really wanted to have this Christmas photoshoot but I just can’t decide what to do.

AIBU if I go?

Our shoot would last around 45-60 minutes if that makes any difference.

I’d go, presumably you’d have gone on your November date if lockdown hadn’t been announced.

@mygrandchildrenrock

I’d go, presumably you’d have gone on your November date if lockdown hadn’t been announced.
Yes I would. Our area though was nearing tier 3 before this lockdown so that has also been sitting on my mind.

Our cases are currently 410 / 100,000.

Probably should’ve highlighted this in my post too.

But you were planning on doing the shoot in 18 days anyway? So really what’s the difference? We’re you expecting masks then?

funinthesun19 · 01/11/2020 09:05

YANBU. Go!
As a pp said, you would have gone in November if lockdown wasn’t happening.

You’re breaking no rules if you go today and you have no moral obligation not to go either. Take advantage now before because this may be your last opportunity.

satnighttakeaway · 01/11/2020 09:06

I'm not you but it wouldn't have occurred to me to even think about not going but I have worked, shopped and eaten out throughout so suspect that my view is very different to yours.

Your very cautious approach wouldn't change my actions in any way so I don't expect mine to change yours.

So basically I'm saying do what you feel comfortable with although as a PP says why would the change of date change your mind?

funinthesun19 · 01/11/2020 09:06

*before lockdown

ellenpartridge · 01/11/2020 09:06

I wouldn't be worried about this

Oysterbabe · 01/11/2020 09:07

I'd go.

NameChange84 · 01/11/2020 09:09

Against the grain, but I’d cancel.

It’s a risk akin to mixing households without a mask with someone who does this regularly and comes into contact with lots of adults and children (presumably school aged too).

You are asthmatic so presumably you are especially concerned about catching it. You are in a high risk area. It’s non-essential. Seems a no brainer to me.

Griselda1 · 01/11/2020 09:19

Has she stated that she won't pose or physically touch any of you. That's really important and the fact that she's excluded that would put me off

LunaLoveFood · 01/11/2020 09:22

Could you have the photos taken outside?
We had a photoshoot a few years ago and ended up outside playing in leaves for the photos as toddler DC was really unhappy in the studio. We had really good photos taken.

LouiseTrees · 01/11/2020 09:24

Depends how long ago the last shoot was. Back to back, no. A few hours ago, yeh I’d go.

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2020 09:35

Could you ask her to do an outside autumnal shoot (if the weather is ok where you are!)

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2020 09:35

Sorry didn't see Luna's reply!

Alexasettimer · 01/11/2020 09:52

There is no option to have it outside. We’ve already had an outdoor photoshoot taken.
I’m not sure how close together the sessions are but I know she has other people in today, one of them being my friend and her husband.

So it will just be your household and a photographer, in a studio that will have been thoroughly cleaned between clients, and they'll wear a mask if you want them to (presumably optional as they'll be 2m away from you). This wouldn't worry me.

Griselda1 · 03/11/2020 02:38

My insurance company have confirmed that they won't cover me to do family photography work. I'm covered to do product or estate agency photography as it doesn't involve me interacting with people

CrotchBurn · 03/11/2020 02:45

Is it that big a deal to not have a Christmas photo shoot 🤷‍♀️ I wouldn't go
