At least 3 times a day I see the misuse of aloud instead of allowed and rightly or wrongly it drives me crazy.

@Ohtherewearethen did he mean 'and all?'

I haven't seen the MN favourite 'Chester draws' mentioned yet.

nosswith · 01/11/2020 19:25

I think it is unfair and gives two much credit to a bad karaoke group, only one of whom has any musical ability (Myleene).

Nutrigrainygoodness · 01/11/2020 19:34

@nosswith Mylenne was in Hear'say.

Devilesko · 01/11/2020 19:43

Yes, "anorl" is and all.

"And Take Wheel" was Antique Wheel.

bluebluezoo · 01/11/2020 19:50

I still like “Wallah!”

Took me bloody ages to figure that one out!

MonicaGhouler · 01/11/2020 19:56

I'm from the north east and we use 'anorl' to mean 'as well'

Though I must point out it's only something I would say, I would never dream of writing down 'anorl'

Shudder

FortunesFave · 01/11/2020 20:06

Monica You know it's "And all" rather than "anorl" right? I know it SOUNDS like anorl....but it's from "and all"

They say that where I'm from too. North West. Like this

"Oh my Mum worked at Woolies and all"

Which comes out as "an-all"

iglpgl · 01/11/2020 20:07

I'd fed up of companies offering me a "sneak peak" of things. Hmm

RelaisBlu · 01/11/2020 20:16

My pet hate is the confusion of "bought" and "brought"

bought = past tense of BUY

brought = past tense of BRING

bluebluezoo · 01/11/2020 20:26

@iglpgl I'd fed up of companies offering me a "sneak peak" of things

Before they drop it?

myusernamewastakenbyme · 01/11/2020 20:35

I'm seeing 'advice and advise' being mixed up a lot...also people saying they are seeing a 'councillor' when having 'counselling' and the absolute worst 'rest bite' care instead of 'respite'.

alltoomuchrightnow · 01/11/2020 20:37

But are you actually 'walking Primrose', OP??

Ismellphantoms · 01/11/2020 20:55

'I really want to loose weight'. No you want your clothes to get loose when you lose weight.

Areyouboredyet · 01/11/2020 22:28

Breath when they mean breathe and then incorrect use of too really irritates me

FreekStar · 01/11/2020 23:55

Ha ha! Laughing at 'anorl'!

We also say this in Yorkshire- it is used to mean 'as well' but would probably be written as an'all (and all). No that it's something you would usually write as it's more just a local dialect phrase.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 02/11/2020 12:48

Has anyone else noticed the direct link between people who use the word 'hun' and horrific spelling errors?

Nicolastuffedone · 02/11/2020 13:43

‘Bare with me’ ‘I can’t bare....’
‘I can’t loose weight’ Drives me mad!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 02/11/2020 13:53

The internet also seems to be littered with people being "defiant" about stuff.
It's endemic.
(They clearly mean "definite")

bluebluezoo · 07/11/2020 23:51

New one tonight. Apparently you can change your name by depol. Who knew.
