Now in these Covid days, I look back and think all that weeping and wailing over brexit seems pathetic

Yes time’s were most certainly simpler when it was just Brexit which is a complex issue

I worry more about the impact of Covid than Brexit

Exactly Covid has blown brexit out of the water

Yeh it won't when Brexit actually happens - have you not realised how bad it will be on top of covid ramifications?
Rightwong gaslighting at its finest

Quartz2208 · 31/10/2020 12:20

We haven’t actually left yet and are hurtling towards a no deal.

What’s worse - starting 2021 in the midst of a pandemic with a no deal

Lardlizard · 31/10/2020 12:33

No deal brexit v pandemic Covid

I know what I think is a hell of a lot worse !

Funny how the papers have all gone very quiet regarding brexit now

@AuntyPonsonby

OPs clearly on a wind up.

Or voted for brexit Hmm

Leave voters are not allowed to post on MN.

Covid is dreadful. Tragic in so many ways. But as a country we will get over it (that comment in no way diminishes the tragedy of those who have died). The adverse effects of Brexit will be felt for decades. You are very unreasonable (in my view).

Quartz2208 · 31/10/2020 12:42

Lardlizard Brexit and COVID aren’t about to get in a ring and fight over who is going to have the longest harshest impact.

Instead we are going to have to manage both

Iggly · 31/10/2020 12:45

My worry about Brexit is that people just dont understand how awful it will impact on our economy. There are no credible economists who think it’s a good thing.

It touches on our medicine supply, food standards, so so much.

EmeraldShamrock · 31/10/2020 12:50

No not pathetic at all it was worth the worry for many, it was a worry for many business now with Covid19 it isn't just a worry it is a disaster it couldn't happen at a worse time.
I'm dreading the political battle with NI it will have devastating effects.

Quartz not saying they are

Don’t you get what I am saying

That that now looks like small fry in comparison

*“I miss when the news was full of nothing but Brexit batshittery.

It was a simpler time...“

Exactly*

Ha! It won't be so simple come January. You'll be reminiscing of when the headlines were just full of 'just' pandemic news! I think you'll understand the weeping and wailing then!

Lardlizard · 31/10/2020 13:03

As they say, no point in arguing with someone committed to missunderstanding you

OP posts:
Quartz2208 · 31/10/2020 13:09

But we haven’t actually had Brexit yet for it to look like small fry - and until we do (and know exactly how it is going to Brexit) we can’t either

It may all be fine or it could cause peace in Northern Ireland to implode and we may miss these simpler times

If in six months time it has all gone smoothly then yes you can say that but it’s just as likely to have as many if not more consequences than COVID except this was something we chose and had control over

It is simply too early to say

SocialBees · 31/10/2020 13:27

The reason there was so much "weeping and wailing" over Brexit is that it was something we collectively chose. We literally voted for higher prices and economic downturn. It's worse than the pandemic (which was largely out of our control) in that sense.

LagunaBubbles · 31/10/2020 13:33

I'm in 2 minds really, dreading the impact firstly of Brexit but also looking forward on the other hand to it being the final nail in the coffin of the union, Im in Scotland and independence is the only way forward to getting free of the Tories.
