Has my manager just ignored my upset

Went to a staff meeting the other night, a few things was said by my manager who led the meeting that I think was unfair and just didn’t make sense. He said at the end of the meeting we could message him any questions or queries, so I did message him, saying I was upset about things said in meeting and could we speak tomorrow when we was both in together. He replied saying yes of course he would find time to talk to me and he didn’t mean to upset anyone. So went into work, he greeted me like nothing had been said, so went about my day thinking he will take me aside at some point to talk about things and nothing... feel really let down and not sure if IABU Or not. He asks alot of us as a team, and we get on with it, never had to speak to him on this level before.

I am a manager and would not do this to an employee, even if I was busy I would either make the time or let the person know I hadn't forgotten but that it would be tomorrow (or whenever).

As he acknowledged your request for a chat this is the least you could expect, however as this is the first time I would remind him, if you don't want to do it face to face reply to the email where he agreed.

My boss who is a director is like this with me, however we communicate a lot. Even so he frequently ignores my messages (we have an internal message system), rarely reads his emails (or selects the ones he reads) and usually waits until I send a message that says something like PLEASE CAN I HAVE SOME ANSWERS TODAY before he responds.

I think this is why I am much more responsive with my team. It isn't just me that he ignores he does it to the others that report directly to him.

I’d have waited for you to schedule a meeting in my calendar for us to discuss this, and got on with my day. If I hadn’t heard from you by the end of the day, I’d probably send you a prompt message asking whether you still wanted to catch up. But I work remotely and have done since the start of April. In the office, I’d have probably said hello as I passed your desk on the way in, and then mentioned to put something in my calendar for us to discuss the items you’d mentioned.
@PleasantVille oh I completely agree with MN assumptions about working life. The HR department in our company is.... me..... muddling along on .gov.uk, trying to do the right thing, and ringing up an employment lawyer when I need to. Things are different in smaller companies!!
It's not exactly odd though? Even small companies (I work in one) have meetings and usually use a function to set that up, like a calendar?

Just go and ask him for a meeting?

Maybe don't use the word "upset" and try to keep it professional. You can disagree, you can be unhappy about something but upset? Sounds childish.

Not all companies are the same, that's not hard to understand, there's no logic to assume that because your small business does something that all other do, that would be odd

There are no doubt things that happen at my work that don't happen at yours, that's to be expected.

I didn't say all companies were exactly the same, I said it was unusual to not have meetings and therefore calendars

Sounds like my manager. I sent him an email two weeks ago regarding lots of issues and he has just blanked me for two weeks until today another colleague told him I was thinking of leaving and I get a response ! I think some people fear confrontation.
