“Be kind” is total nonsense: I am lucky; I have actual good friends. I’ve seen”be kind” and the same people being judgmental as fuck 🤦‍♀️

One thing I loathe is people filming themselves being kind and posting it on social media. The ones of someone filming themselves giving shoes to a beggar or similar.

I also hate the videos where someone holds up 100 signs you have to read which culminates in them doing something nice for someone because of sad backstory.

If you really were being kind, you wouldn't do it in order to film the person's reaction (talk about pressurising) in order to validate in public how thoughtful and wonderful you were to the poor sad person. Just do it, without hopes of validation or gratification. Don't turn others into a prop for your feelz.

Your votes say it all!

YANBU at all! "Be kind" often means "Be quiet" and is used far more often towards women than men IME.

Oh dear! This again! Alright alright i'll be kind. I promise. Now can we stop talking about me and move on?

Agree completely. I associate it with the invasion of women's spaces my males. Women voice their objections and the tired old "Be kind" is trotted out.

Well, men ..... fuck off. YOU give being kind a try; it's not our problem!

LadyWithLapdog · 08/11/2020 17:01

It’s not men posting #bekind so I think that’s reading a bit too much into it.

Imissmoominmama · 08/11/2020 17:24

About 3 years ago, I bought an Om and Ah top, with the slogan, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” I loved the sentiment then, but I don’t wear it anymore because I feel ‘Be Kind’ has become something use to stop people disagreeing with them.

My kids like Harry Styles Treat People With Kindness. No doubt some will jump on him for being Male and wanting to be oppressive or other such bullshit. I find it good and, more importantly, so do my teenagers.

Batshittery · 08/11/2020 18:26

It has nothing to do with men imo. It was twee shite posted on social media (and here) which meant absolutely nothing.
