Should I sue my neighbour?

I'm due to move in a semi detached house next month. There was structural work needed on the party wall which was flagged up during the survey. I approached the neighbours and had their permission to carry out the repairs. They also signed the Party Wall Act. They offered to pay half of of the costs but haven't paid me a penny. I've chased them three times but they refuse to respond to calls and emails. I'm thinking of suing them in the small claim court for £1,130 which is what they promised to pay. I'm considering suing out of frustration and not wanting them to get away with it.

Would I be crazy to sue my neighbour before I've even moved in?

personally i would leave it, if it wasn't there fault and you plan to live there for 20 years its a long time for grudges to fester.

Think I’d just cut my losses. Bit hard lines on you but you’ve got to live there and you now know what you’re dealing with.

Remove the word “party” and realign your belief to be that you fixed your own wall. Whilst you and your ndn will not be friends due to this. At least you will know you won’t have to disclose a neighbour dispute and they won’t seek revenge. It must be awful when things become unbearable. Have you seen nightmare neighbours?

You can send them a letter before action stating they have 14 days to pay otherwise you will instigate proceedings in the courts.

I'd just leave it now. Maybe when you move in bring it up in person when you bump into them.
However, you say it needed doing, they hadn't noticed anything wrong and probably would have lived with whatever it was. People have different ideas about whether a repair is needed.
Good neighbourly relationships are worth their weight in gold.
