Beauticians can't have found lockdown that hard

Because they won't let me book an appointment?

It's taken me almost 2 weeks to book in for a very simple 30 min treatment. And that's not waiting for my appointment, it's simply to get someone to confirm I can have one.

Contacted 5 different places, tried the phone (no one picks up), Facebook, Instagram and email. Online booking systems were broken, showed no appointments (when there were) or when I finally made one booking was never received by the salon.

I get that there's reduced appointments and high demand, but it really shouldn't be that hard surely.

Maybe something to do with a 30min appt - so it isn't worth doing because of the time before next client means they lose money. Or treatment is covid risky. Or your reputation precedes you and they are avoiding you?

It’s not them @floofycroissant, it’s you.

I've accepted IABU for my overgeneralisation, and yes my title wasn't very kind and I am sorry for that.

@CommanderBurnham only taking bookings a month in advance makes sense, I can imagine there's a lot of admin created from cancelling /rescheduling. However we're in tier 1 with no signs of moving. And again it's about communicating if that is the case.

The idea of being on a beauty blacklist is Grin

Not true at all. They lost a lot of income and still couldn't reopen when hairdressers did which was an absolute joke anyway.
Also they now have to do more cleaning between clients so can have fewer per day.
I get my nails and eyebrows done once a fortnight. The lady I go to is self employed and rents her room in a salon (all the staff there are self employed) and the extra work and things they now have to do to comply with regulations is not easy (salon was always immaculate anyway but I've seen how it is for them).
And as my lady was saying they rely on their clients still coming. If the people don't have the money to go or don't see the point as they can't really go out or anything like that then they don't book appointments. Less appointment booked means less clients which means less money coming in, but even more going out (factoring in the additional costs for ppe and cleaning/ sanitising equipment).
So I don't think they've had it easy at all.

Maybe try a mobile beautician?

I was able to book online today for a treatment, for next week. I thought they'd be fully booked so was surprised.

Where I go you have to book at least at a month in advance. Part of the reason is that the amount of treatments that they can do in a day is much less. Because they have to clean down before/ after every client.

The person i go to spent lockdown getting extra qualifications for her business or learning new techniques to pass on to her clients
