Dominos

Holy moly. Is it me or has the price of Dominos pizza absolutely rocketed ? 1 medium thin crust, 1 large normal crust on a Two for Tuesday plus a portion of choc orange cookies and chicken wings £37 !!! It's not even good pizza. How much would it be if it wasn't Two for Tuesday. Anyway I've refused to pay it and the 17 year old is now having a major strop 😂😂

Maybe try an independent pizza place if you have one near you? We use one round the corner from us. 2 medium pizzas, garlic bread, chicken wings, cookies and bottle of drink for £20. The pizza is 10x better than my previously beloved Papa John’s too!

ALittleBitWooToo · 27/10/2020 19:09

Dominos got rid of all of their deals at the start of lockdown - incredibly cynical and profiteering IMHO.

The deals are back now (I guess no one ordered their pizzas at full price, and rightly so!) I wonder if they've made their prices higher at the same time.

If OP is ordering 1 large and 1 medium pizza (£20.99) and 14 chicken wings (£9.99) plus cookies (£4.99) then that's £35.97. Maybe prices are slightly different depending on where you are in the country...?

happymummy12345 · 27/10/2020 19:10

We find the dominos deals are okay if you want a lot (the pizzas with several sides deals seem good). But if you only want to order for less people it's not so good.
My husband and I used to order for the 2 of us when ds in bed sometimes, for a treat. We like different crusts and different toppings so it's best to get 2 separate pizzas. We found the best deal was 2 medium pizzas and cookies for £19.99, even though we didn't want the cookies. But sometimes we just comprise and get one large to share, though it means one of us not having the base we prefer. Again we would get a smaller pizza and sides but it works out so expensive,
We get a better deal from papa johns. We never order from dominos anymore regardless because every time we order the pizza comes burnt, it's too well done to eat so we contact them and get a replacement, which is usually not much better. This was every time we ordered, from more than one store. So now we stick to papa johns. Which is such a shame because our local dominos used to be brilliant, and I do love their pizzas, but not when every time it's burnt

happymummy12345 · 27/10/2020 19:10

Or there are local independent places near us that are just wonderful so we use them as well

ALittleBitWooToo · 27/10/2020 19:12

Ah - there is a 40% off voucher on the site where I am too. If you ditch the "2 for Tuesday" deal and add the 40% voucher instead then the same order comes to £32.98....

Alwayssleepy1234 · 27/10/2020 19:18

We ordered a Dominos last week and there's always offers initially on the website. It was a Friday night and we got 50% off if we spent £40 so we only spent £26. Our pizzas were nice but the sides could have been better.

We've tried Papa Johns in the past but the pizzas were undercooked but their sides were better. I think it's probably a case of location as some are better than others.

Floralnomad · 27/10/2020 19:18

We get Pizza Hut delivery and they do a selection of medium pizzas for £5 everyday . We used to have Dominos occasionally but they cut GF pizzas at the start of lockdown and have not bought them back , the excuse being that they can’t socially distance in the kitchen to make them which is clearly bollocks as every other pizza place can still manage .

ginislife · 27/10/2020 19:19

@CaptainHammer we did use our local one in the end. £27 for double the amount of food. I won't be returning to Dominos. Never had Papa John's.

Disappointed. I thought this was going to be a thread about the game with the black and white numbered tiles.

Dominos Pizza is horrible greasy stuff. Best avoided.

AmuckAmuckAmuck · 27/10/2020 19:23

@Pumpkinstace

Try papa johns. Much better.
Oh god no. Cold, horrid cheese and tasteless. They are franchised though so depends on where you live.
IndiaMay · 27/10/2020 19:30

How on earth? We got 3 large pizzas on friday from there for £25. Are you sure you were applying the offer? Or doing a meal deal?

Agree papa John's is waaaaay better though

BetsyBigNose · 27/10/2020 19:30

Dominos do 50% off when you spend over £35... If they didn't, we'd never order from them! We get 3 large pizzas to divide between 4 of us at £18.99 each, so £56.97, then take off 50% = £28.49, and it leaves us enough for lunch the next day too!

Itgetsthehoseagain · 27/10/2020 19:31

Oh, but it's worth it.

Oysterbabe · 27/10/2020 19:31

That butter sauce stuff they do at Papa John's is absolutely rank 🤢

GameSetMatch · 27/10/2020 19:37

@RiftGibbon don’t try the vegan pizza, it will stink your house out! It smells like old rotten socks! Or buy it without cheese.

MorganKitten · 27/10/2020 19:44

They aren’t allowed to do cheap deals due to the whole weight/Covid thing, it was on the news last month

purpleme12 · 27/10/2020 20:09

They're still doing deals
I can't find anything about dominos not doing deals because of covid

Vilanelle · 27/10/2020 20:10

I refuse to buy it now. Always gives me am upset tummy and I cant justify the cost

purpleme12 · 27/10/2020 20:11

There's just no other pizza that lives up to dominos so I don't think I'll stop using dominos!

RiftGibbon · 27/10/2020 20:11

Oh well, that's one good reason. Our local 'sit-in' italian has vegan cheese alternatives on their pizzas and it works really well. Guess I'll just have to stick with ordering from them - they don't deliver but I think they may now do take-away.

Planty13 · 27/10/2020 20:12

I’ve never paid that much OP, for much more food as well. I’d query it. There are always offers on making it much cheaper

picklecustard · 27/10/2020 20:17

Our local one does 2 sides or 2 desserts for 4.99. So 2 large pizzas on BOGOF plus 2 portions of cookies usually comes to £24

whatdoidonowffs · 27/10/2020 20:20

Wouldn’t go back to dominos after I went to one the other day stood outside the open door and was told I couldn’t order direct from them and had to do it online thus paying online delivery prices with no option to collect 🤯

fastandthecurious · 27/10/2020 20:26

Our local dominoes does 2 large pizza and 2 sides for £25 which I can't argue with really as the pizzas are massive.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 27/10/2020 20:29

If you're having pizza for dinner you don't need a side order of cookies Grin
