Definitely get the patio dug up. I’ve started doing mine I can hear the sneezing and the blowing of the nose ( that HAS to be done that hard and loud the street can hear 🙄 ) while he’s working from home. Also came down the stairs to tell me “ I just want soup for lunch I’m so ill “ well you know where the pots and pans are big chap.....have it in your hole I’ve dug for you and please eat it quietly. Oh and just seen he’s walked back up the stairs with 2 bags of crisps and a chocolate bar must be so sick lol 😂

PuppyMonkey · 27/10/2020 13:14

I was making similar jokes about DP earlier this year when he took to his bed with man flu. Later that year he got invited to take part in the Imperial College London COVID antibody test and it turned out he had it.Blush

Mytimetokillandmaim · 27/10/2020 13:16

If he's doing The Voice then it's legal I fucking hate the voice!!! It's the worst part. Give me shuffling over The Voice, any day 🙄

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 27/10/2020 13:18

I once accused DH of having manflu. It was sepsis and he nearly died. We don't talk about manflu in this house now!

TotorosFurryBehind · 27/10/2020 13:19

Oh my god the groaning...and the moaning about being tired... I've been up breastfeeding our child 5 times in the night every night for more than a year whilst I let you sleep in the spare room, you don't have any idea what tired is.

Soubriquet · 27/10/2020 13:22

@AriesTheRam

He managed to force down some chips and is now asking the noises again
Oh the poor sausage

I’m so glad he managed to eat something.

It must be so hard for him

Why are you not on your hands and knees pandering to his every demand?!

Jayaywhynot · 27/10/2020 13:24

We need a diagram of his poorlyness 😂

MrsMigginsMate · 27/10/2020 13:26

"She's on her period again, she's driving me up the wall. I will have to lay a trail of chocolate to get her out the house, she's insufferable and I should be allowed to kill her over this"

Sounds really stupid and sexist when you reverse it doesn't it. Hmm

And before anyone piles on with the "it's just a joke" nonsense, that's exactly what a male nasty sexist POS would say in order to get away with belittling us. So no, that won't wash.

People experience the same viruses differently, hasn't covid definitively shown this to everyone by now? The news has been full of explanations about how men and women's bodies react differently to it. Its the same for a lot of seasonal colds. Just because one person gets over it quickly it doesn't mean the next person is being a drama queen because it's hit them harder. I can't believe this would even need an explanation in current times.

"She's on her period again, she's driving me up the wall. I will have to lay a trail of chocolate to get her out the house, she's insufferable and I should be allowed to kill her over this"
That's pretty accurate though..I'm sure this is exactly how my partner feels...he just wouldn't dare say it on the moment 🤣🤣 I dont get a chocolate trail..rather he throws a bag of chocolate at me 🤣

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 13:48

YABU

That's not murder.

Self-defence at worst, mercy killing more likely whatever is lighter

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 13:51

@toomuchtoworryabout

My male friend was moaning last week about man flu. We all rolled our eyes and said it was a cold - typical symptoms, sneezing, bunged up, general cold symptoms. His wife is a bit paranoid and sent him for a Covid test. It was positive. He didn’t have a temperature or cough or loss of taste/smell. Covid can manifest in different people in different ways. Just sayin.
so what? If you test positive for Covid and it's so light it's barely a cold, you don't warrant any more sympathy than for .. a cold.

Your condition is not worsened because it's cold "Covid". Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 27/10/2020 14:01

@toomuchtoworryabout agreed. I had a headache for three days last week. Thought it was my usual pre period headache, just a bit early. Happened to do a random Covid test at work as part of a research study and it's positive. I have had none of the other symptoms.

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 14:08

@ChaChaCha2012

Would we be laughing about this if a man tried to justify murdering his wife? "Well she moans too much...."

Sorry you're having a hard time OP, but domestic violence is not something to joke about. A friend was murdered by her husband, and this was his defence.

Confused

You do realise that the OP is not actually going to murder anyone?
This thread is funny because she is.. joking.

We wouldn't be laughing about anyone if the man or woman was trying to justify an actual murder. Hmm

Shinyletsbebadguys · 27/10/2020 14:17

My dsis once rolled her eyes at her ex husband after he complained about a football injury and let him drive to A and E because he seemed fine (and had form for winging ) she felt very guilty when he rang to say they were rushing him into surgery (they really were ).

Hasn't stopped her or I from recognising the irritation of man flu. Dp is quite well behaved when ill in fairness , sadly though I have two ds who both amazingly become "unwell" as soon as either of them even sneezes. God help us when DP sneezes because within seconds the 7 year old and 4 year old are clearly mortally unwell (thank God the dog is female or I'd probably have deal with instantaneous kennel cough on those days !!).

anothersleeplessone · 27/10/2020 14:21

Why are you messing around on mumsnet when you've got a patio to dig up ?

GrinGrinGrin

MrsMigginsMate · 27/10/2020 14:22

I agree with ChaChaCha, you can have a moan without using domestic violence in a jokey way, that's very distasteful. As I said before, justifying this sort of thing by saying it's a joke is exactly what a nasty minority of men would do to women to justify all sorts of sick comments.

Having a vagina doesn't magically mean you're incapable of being sexist . Hmm

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 16:02

MrsMigginsMate

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, it's a free country.

Some of us still get the joke Grin

Oh I 'get' the joke. Its just that's it's a really crappy one based on sexism and I don't believe in double standards.

I assume you find it hilarious when men make sexist jokes at a woman's expense too. Each to their own I suppose.

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 17:55

It doesn't matter one bit if I find jokes hilarious or not. People are still allowed to make them. I have no double standard here.

unmarkedbythat · 27/10/2020 17:59

Ha, DH had the sniffles at the weekend, or in his terms "I am sooooooo eeeeeeeeelllllll". I said, yes DH, you have the same cold me and ds1 had last week. Take some paracetamol and you'll be fine. But no, no, he didn't have the cold we had. He was very, very ill. He did remind me that he has a heart procedure coming up for arrhythmia but when I asked him what that had to do with him having caught my cold he was unable to explain. He just had another hot drink and did some more complaining about being sooooooooooooo unwell.

TeamLucille · 27/10/2020 18:08

If DH was jokingly writing that if he saw one more shoe delivery arriving for me, he would bury me with them at the bottom of the garden, I wouldn't find it offensive either.

If I was seeing him digging a hole with his spade in the pouring rain, I would start to worry a bit Grin

RelaisBlu · 27/10/2020 18:32

Has the Dressing Gown of Doom made an appearance yet OP?
I agree about the shuffling.... I can't stand the shuffling

AriesTheRam · 27/10/2020 22:41

No dressing gown of doom im afraid but he did have a bath with TCP in it earlier

OP posts:
longwayoff · 27/10/2020 22:48

A police officer was in court today, found not guilty of murder after killing his girlfriend - broke her neck - of 10 years when she told his wife about the lengthy affair. So, yes, in some circumstances, the title of the thread appears to be correct.

jcyclops · 28/10/2020 00:10

Why do so many downplay the seriousness of man flu. It us clearly a risk to life - especially in the Aries household, and who is this TCP who he shared a bath with?
