Is this level of tiredness normal?

jemjem07 · 26/10/2020 19:56

I have been to see the GP about this who carried out various blood tests all were normal.

My toddler will be 2 in January.

I work 25 hours per week ( over 2 12.5 shifts )

My partner works also full time , we both contribute evenly do house work, he does bath bed every night . Toddler generally sleeps through the night and will wake 6/7 am.

I can't work out why I am so tired . I wake up and it feels like I haven't been asleep. I ache so bad every muscle is sore . Slight touch to my shoulders and neck area is very painful feels deep muscle pain.

I had to decline a full time job recently as I knew I couldn't manage 9-5 every day. I am only 31 and this doesn't seem right to me .

I am that tired in the day that I feel upset if toddler doesn't nap or only has 30 minutes because I just don't know how I will get through the day without resting at some point . sometimes my partner has to leave work earlier because I am just so tired .

Has anyone experienced this level of tiredness with a toddler , can this be normal ? Or do I need to go back to the Gp?

Edit I am not depressed , low in mood or anything like that.

Fibromyalgia would be my first guess.....

balloonsintrees · 27/10/2020 08:06

Vitamin d deficiency

DragonPie · 27/10/2020 08:09

Did you have your thyroid bloods checked?

I’ve got hypothyroidism and was dead tired when DS was a toddler, could fall asleep at any given moment because my bloods were out.

FrankieDoyle · 27/10/2020 08:10

I have fibromyalgia and this is how I feel most days. I'm 37.

dontdisturbmenow · 27/10/2020 08:38

Lack of regenerative sleep, ie. deep sleep. Your body and muscles fail to recover proper hence over time aching all over as well as feeling drained.

feesh · 27/10/2020 08:40

The body aches sound like vitamin D deficiency.

BIRDSbirds · 27/10/2020 09:10

Ask for your actual test results and the normal range - you could be just on the cusp which doctor will say is "normal" but could be very low. Get yourself some iron, b vitamin and vitamin d supplements and see if they help. But keep on at the GP if things arent improving. I'm sorry you feel like this. I have pernicious anemia requiring b12 injections and it took ages to get diagnosed as my readings were on the border of normal to start with so I sympathise.

TweeBree · 27/10/2020 09:24

Yes to getting a copy of your test results. You need to understand what's been tested to narrow it down.

Could be sleep apnea or pre-diabetes - what's your diet like? Lots of carbs/sugar? How do you feel after a big carb-y meal? Do you get much exercise?

Aeiou90 · 27/10/2020 09:50

Sounds similar to me- until thyroid problem was picked up. Solved within 2 weeks of starting medication - get a copy of your results, don't just accept "normal" over the phone.

jemjem07 · 27/10/2020 14:17

Thanks everyone for very helpful replies !

So for context I am not over weight bmi 20/21. Can't remember exact

I have a copy of my bloods as it's all electronic at my surgery.

Thyroid - 1.14 ( normal 0.27-4.2)
B12-313 ( normal 197-771)
FBC normal

My diet could probably do with some improvement a little too much tea .

Generally I have a varied balanced diet though. Albeit some processed .

I just feel so foggy / head fog / tiredness coupled with the fatigue . I woke up this morning aching all over again even though I had a nice bath last night . I feel like I have been out partying or something when I have just been asleep. Very strange .

I wasn't sure if this can be normal with a toddler and that I just am not used to it.

When I press the areas by my shoulders they are so painful to touch.

@TweeBree I do have a little too many carbs and sugar as I'm so tired I have a quick fix

I don't get as much exercise as I used to. My toddler tends to refuse his pram now but walks very slow and not in a line so it's not like we can walk for miles .. tends to just be a potter around a field / park. I'm too tired in the evenings to exercise . My job is sitting down for 12.5 hours thankfully this is only twice a week.

A few years ago my job was long shifts but active for the whole time , I ran also and went to the gym on and off. I weight the same now as I did then . I just feel very tender , like I'm nursing a hangover all the time can't bear to be touched . Aching all over but feel burning - deep muscle pain when I press my shoulder area.

@dontdisturbmenow thank you how can I help this sleep issue if it's that?

Anoisagusaris · 27/10/2020 14:25

One toddler who sleeps well and that amount of work/caring duties should not have you feeling like that. There definitely is something else going on.

I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea and wake like I’ve been hit by bus. But I’m overweight.

jemjem07 · 27/10/2020 14:31

@Anoisagusaris I know that's why I have been thinking it has to be something else

  • he sleeps well
  • I have one morning to myself while he attends nursery
  • my partner is committed to home life house work etc so all shared
  • I work from home on those 2 days

I can't understand this pain like I say I don't feel low in mood or anything it's the physical aching deep muscle pain. The tiredness is next level it's like I'm just barely getting through the day.

Fibromyalgia.
look up pressure points for fibromyalgia. Sounds like you have all the symptoms with foggy head etc

jemjem07 · 27/10/2020 14:37

I am seriously thinking it's fibromyalgia. I do often forget words at work when I'm talking to someone . I used to just think it was tiredness from baby being up in the night but he has slept well really for the last 9 months since he was 1. I will call Gp again if no improvement soon it's hard to tell at the moment as I have a cold too

That's a good question! It's all about relaxing the mind, so changing life to make it less hectic and demanding. Easy isn't it!

Mindfulness, meditation and relaxation is all recommended. Some antidepressant can help (because they also have a beneficial impact on sleep rather than treating depression).

dontdisturbmenow · 27/10/2020 14:40

I do agree with checking for Vit D deficiency too although in my case my levels did turn out to be low, but the subsequent treatment didn't make much of ax difference.

Newuser123123 · 27/10/2020 14:42

Folate levels/ iron levels?
Also vit d levels need checking as both of these caused me extreme tiredness

jemjem07 · 27/10/2020 14:44

@dontdisturbmenow I am guilty of recently having a television in my bedroom which mustn't be helping matters . This has been going on since may though and the tv was very recent .

I know a few years ago my vit d levels were low as I had this similar concern over tiredness .

I easily put weight on too with facial hair so have been down the ? polycystic ovary road as well as under active thyroid route before and all tests were normal.

Nowadays I just have to eat little the next day if I gain weight or try and do a big walk to keep to being a size 10-12 .

I just clenched my butt cheeks and even those are painful very deep muscular pain this is very random.

Forgot my other problem too is being cold! I am always freezing heating can be on and others will comment they are hot and I'm froze . In particular hands and feet. I am surprised my iron levels and thyroid is normal
