Best Henry Hoover

Newbie1999 · 25/10/2020 09:08

Posting for traffic... had 2 cordless hoovers now and neither have lasted very long, so going to go for a Henry. There seems to be loads of different types now... can anyone recommend one?!

I think they're all the same but different faces?! 😂 They're very good for hard floors or very low pile carpet but imo they don't deep clean proper carpets, unless you buy a turbo brush attachment thing.

bodgeitandscarper · 25/10/2020 09:45

The numatic ones that are made for industry/businesses are more practical as they don't tip over so easily.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 25/10/2020 09:47

Utterly hate mine. It was an expensive mistake.

Horrible to store and it really isn’t great on carpets and if you have a pet it’s even worse. The best it does is leave hair in clumps on the carpet so you can pick it up or use a dust pan and brush.

Newbie1999 · 25/10/2020 09:48

Hmm... is there any other type someone can recommend? Only problem is I don’t want to spend much more than £100!

Henry Extra has the turbo tool and is bigger! Absolutely love mine!

soundsfishie · 25/10/2020 09:54

I have a Henry, I love it. Mine is a few years old though, I think he is better then the newer models because of the wattage reduction a few years back.

pumpkinpie01 · 25/10/2020 10:01

Mine is ok but they are quite bulky to store and I find hair just clings to it and I have to pull it off 😫

Phwoar!!!! We got a pink Hetty because it was £30 cheaper than Henry (sexist?).
It's very powerful and I haven't had to empty it yet, unlike my last small cylinder Hoover. .

movingonup20 · 25/10/2020 10:03

Henry extra has the deep pile carpet attachment but they are all more than £100 currently, was looking last week. The different colours have different capacities and one does wet floors. The pink and red are the same though

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 25/10/2020 10:20

I've got the cheapest Henry but bought an extra attachment set that has a turbo tool, mini turbo tool and hard floor head and I luffs him so much. The hard floor head is far better than the normal head that comes with him, the normal head was pretty fantastic anyway on our well trodden short pile carpets!

Givemeabreak88 · 25/10/2020 10:23

I hate my Henry, can’t believe they are recommended so highly they are awful. Massive and bulky, horrible to store as others have said. Wouldn’t get one again. Though I think mine is Harry?? The green version, but I think they are all roughly the same

Mydogdoesntlisten · 25/10/2020 10:27

I tried a numatic at work and it seemed brilliant although I have just bought a beldray cordless at home which I'm also really pleased with.

Smile3 · 25/10/2020 10:29

I have a Pink hetty, mine was around £100 I did buy it 8 years ago and still going strong, still great suction. Cant complain. I have seen them on special offer for £110 In asda.

bilbodog · 25/10/2020 10:30

The cheaper ones dont have the boost switch so only one suck level (which is strong) I have 2 and although the suction is good on both the one without the boost sometimes sucks too hard - if you have small rugs they stick to the hoover - so i use the smaller one downstairs and the bigger one upstairs where i have small rugs and can hoover without the boost switch on.

bilbodog · 25/10/2020 10:31

In addition - i dont know why people find them hard to store?

soundsfishie · 25/10/2020 10:34

I was going to say the same.
MegaClutterSlut · 25/10/2020 10:35

I got given a henry and decided to test it and tbh its crap. I hoovered everywhere with the Henry, then went round again with my dyson and the dyson picked up loads of crap the Henry missed

soundsfishie · 25/10/2020 10:36

one without the boost sometimes sucks too hard

It has the vent on the tube though which should reduce suction.

Givemeabreak88 · 25/10/2020 10:38

I find them hard to store because they are bulky and the pipes are huge. I would have a nice shark or dyson upright if I had the money. I only went with Henry as it was significantly cheaper. (For a reason 😒 )

Sniv · 25/10/2020 10:44

I quite like our Henry. It has a really long cable and a pretty long hose so I can do each storey of our house from one socket. I don't have very high demands for a hoover, though, as I have 90% hard floors, and no pets.

Plus, it's a bonus that whenever I open the cupboard, its giving me a cheeky side-eye as if I just interrupted it in the middle of something it shouldn't be doing.

101jobs · 25/10/2020 10:47

I was so happy when my Henry broke after 1 year, I felt justified buying a new different hoover. It was fantastic on the hard flooring, but absolute crap on my carpets (both deep and short pile). I don’t recommend it at all. Sorry

Smile3 · 25/10/2020 10:48

Argos £99

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 25/10/2020 10:51

I would look for a second hand cared for Dyson dc40 if I were you op, if you cant stretch to a new one. We have pets and I literally went through a cheaper upright hoover every year or so, tried vax, hoover, Electrolux, spent £100 a time, until I bought the dc40 five years ago, it's looking a bit tired but it's the best I've ever had, a few things have broken but if you ring Dyson they can tell from your model number when it was bought and they have a five year warranty that they send free parts, and even a repairman if needed!

101jobs · 25/10/2020 10:51

Sorry, should of mentioned it was a Numatic and had a boost button

Bargebill19 · 25/10/2020 11:02

I have to use a numatic Henry for work. Hate it with a passion. Gives you back ache. Cord gets stuck. The hoover itself loves to get trapped behind everything. As for it being robust and untippable - ha! It’ll wait until the day you are in a hurry and wham bam thank you mam, it’ll tip over and the lid etc will go flying .... and can you get the bastard to clip back together properly... no!!
Plus once they start to smell, that it you can really do anything about them.
Hate them with a passion - can you tell?
